장애대학생의 진로결정 경험 연구: 근거이론적 접근

본 연구의 목적은 장애대학생들이 진로결정 과정에서 겪는 경험을 이해하고, 이에 관한 이론적 틀을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 현재 대학교에 재학 중인 2학년 이상의 장애대학생 12명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였으며, 근거이론적 방법을 적용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애대학생 진로결정 과정을 분석한 결과 99개의 개념과 31개의 하위범주, 12개의 범주가 도출되었다. 둘째, 장애대학생들은 ‘진로를 위한 대학진학’과 ‘미룰 수 없는 진로결정’의 인과적 상황에 따라 ‘제한되지만 뚜렷한 진로결정’의 중심 현상을 경험하였고, 이 현상은 ‘인적자원들의 지원’, ‘장애인을 위한 진로지원 체계’의 맥락적 조건에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 ‘신체적ㆍ심리적 어려움’과 ‘진로준비의 어려움’의 중재적 조건에 따라 ‘대학제도의 활용’, ‘내면적인 노력’, ‘취업 후의 삶에 대한 희망’의 작용/상호작용 전략을 활용하였고, 그 결과는 ‘적극적인 진로준비’와 ‘지속적인 자기노력’으로 나타났다. 셋째, 장애대학생의 진로결정 과정은 ‘탐색과 선택’, ‘불안과 혼란’, ‘조절과 전환’, ‘도전과 성장’의 4단계로 확인되었으며, 이러한 과정의 핵심 범주는 ‘지속적 노력을 통해 사회인으로 성장하기’였다. 이 연구결과는 장애대학생의 진로결정을 위한 상담, 진로교육 프로그램 개발, 진로 지원방안 모색을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study was aimed to understand the process of career decision making of college students with disabilities, and offer theoretical frame. We interviewed 12 college students with disabilities and analyzed data using grounded theory approach. The study results were as follows; First, there were 99 concepts, 31 sub-categories, 12 categories revealed by open coding. Second, college students with disabilities experienced phenomenon of ‘making a limited and clear career decision’ on casual conditions of ‘entered college for career’, and ‘career decision making can’t be delay’. This phenomenon was influenced by contextual conditions of ‘human resources supporting’, and ‘career supporting system’. And college students with disabilities used coping strategies of ‘using college systems’, ‘endeavors to develop inner mind’, and ‘hope in working life’ depend on intervening conditions of ‘physical and emotional difficulties’, and ‘difficulties faced by career preparations’. The results of career decision making were ‘positive career preparations’ and ‘continuous efforts’. Third, the process of career decision making was consisted of four phases; ‘exploration and choice’, ‘anxiety and confusion’, ‘regulation and transition’, and ‘challenge and growth’. And the core category was ‘growth as a member of society through continuous efforts. The findings in this study can be used for the basic data for counseling career decision making, developing career education programs, developing career support systems for college students with disabilities.
