Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' perceptions and beliefs regarding co-teaching practices and their preferences for applying particular types of co-teaching models in inclusive elementary settings. A total of 30 co- teachers engaging in co-teaching were interviewed, and co-taught classes were observed, too. Findings indicated that co-teachers had positive perceptions about and experiences with co-teaching practices. Findings also suggested that although one-teach, one- assist model was most often used with combing other types of models, each co- teaching models had unique benefits and barriers for students and teachers, and the models required different teachers' knowledge or skills. It was concluded that overall co-teaching practice were effective in providing appropriate support with students with and without disabilities. Further researches are required to validate the effectiveness of co-teaching practice on student outcomes. Implications and recommendations for practice are discussed.
