이 연구는 경도정신지체 학생들의 배치형태(특수학교, 특수학급, 통합학급)에 따른 자기결정력과 삶의 질을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 수도권에 설치되어 있는 2개 특수학교와 14개 일반학교를 대상으로 타인과의 의사소통에 문제가 없고 간단한 문자나 몸짓을 이용하여 자신의 의사를 표현할 수 있는 경도정신지체 68명을 대상으로 검사 결과를 분석하였다.연구의 결과 학생들이 분리형태(특수학교)가 아닌 보다 통합된 환경(특수학급 및 통합학급)에배치되어 있을 경우 자기결정력과 삶의 질이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라 자기결정력이 높으면 높을수록 삶의 질 또한 높은 것으로 나타나 장애학생들의 삶의 질을 향상시키는데 있어 자기결정력이 중요한 변수가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
Abstract
The purposes of this study are to : 1) explore the relationship of placement type to self-determination of students with mild mental retardation. 2) explore the relationship of placement type to quality of life of students with mild mental retardation. 3) explore the relationship between self-determination and quality of life of students with mild mental retardation. The results of this study were as follows : Firstly, students with mild mental retardation on placement in inclusive class demonstrated higher self-determination than the other two groups. Secondly, students with mild mental retardation on placement in inclusive class demonstrated higher quality of life than the other two groups. Thirdly, self-determination showed positive correlation to quality of life. That is, self-determined students with mild mental retardation presented a better quality of life.
