이 연구의 목적은 지적장애인의 자기결정 능력이 졸업 후 취업 여부, 고용 형태, 취업 기간과 관계가 있는가를 밝혀내어 전환교육에서의 자기결정 지도 방향을 제시하는 데 있다. 연구 대상은 서울, 경기도, 충청도 지역에 소재하는 특수학교 4개교의 전공과 학생과 장애인 시설 3곳에 거주하는 지적장애인 107명이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지적장애인의 자기결정 능력은 취업 여부에 따라 차이가 있으며, 취업이 미취업보다 높았다. 자기결정 능력의 하위 영역이 취업 여부에 미치는 영향에서는 자율성과 자기조정 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 자율성과 자기조정 득점이 높을수록 취업할 가능성이 높다. 둘째, 지적장애인의 자기결정 능력은 고용 형태에 따라 차이가 있으며, 일반고용이 보호고용보다 높았다. 자기결정 능력의 하위 영역이 고용 형태에 미치는 영향에서는 통계적으로 유의미한 영향이 없었다. 셋째, 지적장애인의 자기결정 능력은 취업 기간에 따라 차이가 있으며, 1년 미만이 1년 이상보다 높았다. 자기결정 능력의 하위 영역이 취업 기간에 미치는 영향에서는 자기조정 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 자기조정 득점이 높을수록 1년 미만에 포함될 가능성이 높다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 선행연구와 관련하여 논의와 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this quantitative study was to suggest instructional directions about the self-determination in transition education by investigating the relationship between self-determination ability of individuals with intellectual disabilities and the employment after graduation, the employment status, and the employment duration. The participants were 107 individuals with intellectual disabilities from transition programs at four special education schools and three facilities for individuals with disabilities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheong-do. The major findings were as follow. First, followed by the employment of individuals with intellectual disabilities, there was a significant difference in self-determination ability. The self- determination ability of the employed was higher than the unemployed. When it comes to the influence of the subdomains of the self-determination on their employment, there were statistically significant differences in the autonomy and the self-regulation. The higher the score of the autonomy and the self- regulation was, the higher the possibility of employment was. Second, followed by employment status, there was a significant difference in the self-determination ability. The self-determination ability of individuals with disabilities in general employment was higher than the sheltered employment. In terms of the influence of the subdomains of the self-determination on the employment status, there was no statistically significant difference. Third, followed by the duration of employment, there was a significant difference in the self-determination ability. The self-determination ability of the employed who have worked for less than a year was higher than those who have worked for more than a year. In respect of the influence of the subdomains of the self-determination on employment duration, it was statistically meaningful. As the score of the self-regulation was higher, the possibility to be included in the group which have worked for less than a year was higher. Based on the results of the investigation, this study has provided discussions and suggestions relating to the preceding studies.
