Abstract
This research was pre-post-follow test control group design and was executed to test the effects of Family Play Therapies on family functions of child with ADHD. The subjects were 8 families including fathers and their children in preschool age to early school age with the problems of difficulties in keeping attention. In EFP (Experiential Family Playtherapy) group, subjects were placed in the program which included relax games, experiential play, and family free play. In SFP (Structured Family Playtherapy) group, subjects were placed in the program which included just relax games and family free play. The whole programs were executed for 8 sessions with pre-post-session and follow-up session to get the results from parents. The whole sessions were being observed and rated by trained 3 observers on the family functions such as family cohesion, family adaptiveness, family communication, and individual cohesion in the session. Parents of each group were asked to rate their perceived levels on the family functions of their family. All the rating results from parents and observers were analyzed with SPSS WIN V.12 to test the differences between the ratings of each serial time of sessions to verify the effects of both programs after its terminating. As results, significant increases were showed on the almost every rating scores in the EFP group especially on the observed rating scores during session. In SFP group, the observed rating scores showed significantly decreased in the follow up session, After all, Experiential Family Play Therapy had more improving and maintaining effects on family functions of the family with ADHD.
