초록

[목적] 본 연구의 목적은 노년기 부모의 발달장애 자녀 돌봄과 관련한 국내외 연구동향을 전반적으로 검토하고, 노년기 부모의 돌봄 경험을 체계적으로 분석하는 것이다. [방법] 이를 위해 문헌연구의 한 방법인 범위 연구를 사용하여 노년기 부모의 돌봄에 대해 분석하였다. 범위연구의 절차에 따라 총 36편의 연구가 선정되고, 선정된 논문들은 출판년도, 연구 참여자, 연구방법, 연구결과로 분석되었다. 또한 연구결과의 주제에 따라 서술적 분석이 이루어졌다. [결과] 노년기 부모의 돌봄 관련 국내연구의 수는 국외연구와 비교하여 상대적으로 적었다. 대부분의 선행연구는 설문 조사지를 통한 양적연구를 실시하고 있었으며, 질적연구나 혼합연구 방법을 활용한 연구는 적었다. 지금까지 발달장애 자녀를 둔 노년기 부모의 돌봄 관련 연구는 3가지 주요 주제를 중심으로 이루어졌다: 돌봄 현황, 돌봄 영향, 미래 돌봄. 노년기 부모는 돌봄 만족감을 느끼기도 하지만 돌봄 부담 스트레스를 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 다수의 연구가 돌봄이 부모의 신체적 건강에 영향을 미친다고 보고하였다. 부모 걱정 중 하나는 발달장애 자녀의 미래 돌봄이었다. [결론] 본 연구의 분석결과를 토대로 노년기 부모를 향한 지원 및 후속연구를 위한 시사점이 논의되었다.

Abstract

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to review the literature about caregiving by aging parents of children with developmental disabilities. Specifically, the purpose was to synthesize the literature in relation to key themes involving the caregiving experience of aging parents. [Method] A scoping review was conducted to map the literature concerning caregiving by aging parents for their children with developmental disabilities. In total, 36 studies were identified and included. The 36 studies were coded with respect to publication year, participants, research design, and findings. In addition, all the studies were thematically categorized. [Results] The results indicated that relatively few Korean studies have been conducted compared to international studies. Most studies employed a quantitative research approach in which survey questionnaires were used. A small number of studies used qualitative research or mixed methods research. Three Key themes were identified: caregiving status, the impacts of caregiving, and future caregiving. Some of the aging parents reported caregiving satisfaction, but the others reported caregiving burden and stress. In addition, many studies showed the impact of caregiving on the physical health of the aging parents. One of the concerns of aging parents was future caregiving for their adult child with developmental disability. [Conclusion] The implications for future research and practice are discussed.
