[목적] 본 연구는 한국형 촉신호를 개발하여 한국 농맹인을 위한 의사소통을 더 원활하게 지원하는 것이 목적이다. 이 같은 연구 목적에 따른 연구 질문은 ‘한국의 농맹인을 위해 개발되어야 할 촉신호는 무엇인가?’이다. [방법]한국형 촉신호를 개발하는 과정에 전농전맹인 4명과 수어통역사 4명이 연구참여자로 함께하여 실행연구로 진행하였다. 실행연구의 절차는 ‘계획-실행과 관찰-반성-수정된 계획’의 나선형 모형을 반복하는 Kemmis와 McTaggart(2007)의 연구모형에 따라 3차에 걸쳐 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 수집된 면담, 관찰(영상, 사진, 그림), 현장일지 등을 질적자료로 활용하여 Miles와 Huberman(1994)의 질적분석 절차 3단계(자료의 정리→배열→결론 도출/확인)에 따라 질적분석을 하였다(Miles&Huberman, 1994).] [결과] 본 연구는 3차까지 실행연구를 진행하였고 연구로 개발한 촉신호는 총 74개이며 세부 구성은 주변 상황 20개, 감정 표현 16개, 색깔 8개, 사람 6개, 음식 8개, 기타 16개이다. 1차, 2차, 3차에 걸친 실행은 별개의 과정이라기보다 이전 단계의 결과를 기초로 다음 단계에서 수정 보완하고 그다음 단계를 수행하였기 때문에 연속적인 과정이라고 할 수 있다. [결론] 촉신호 개발을 위한 실행연구 과정을 통해 촉신호 개발과 관련한 주요 실행 결과 분석을 토대로 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 촉신호 단어 선정기준을 마련하였다. 본 연구에서 마련한 단어 선정기준은 ‘한국 농맹인이 자주 사용하는 단어인가?’, ‘한국수어를 활용하여 촉신호를 개발하였을 때 쉽게 인지되는가?’. ‘농맹인 연구참여자 전원이 동의하였는가?’이다. 본 연구에서는 한국 농맹인에게 유용한 촉신호 개발을 위해서 이 세 가지 단어 선정기준을 적용하였고 그 기준에 따라 한국형 촉신호를 개발하였다. 둘째, 농맹인 당사자가 연구에 참여해야 함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 촉신호는 단순하고 쉽게 개발해야 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 상황에 맞는 촉신호를 활용해야 함을 알 수 있었다. 촉신호는 일상생활, 놀이상황, 강의나 회의상황 등에서 어떤 용도로 사용되는지 알고 쓴다면 더 유용하게 쓰일 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 촉신호 개발에 참여하지 않은 농맹인, 수어통역사, 가족, 활동지원사 등을 위한 교육이 필요하고 그 교육은 반복적이어야 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 여섯째, 지속적인 촉신호 개발이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 촉신호는 한꺼번에 많은 단어를 개발하는 것이 중요한 게 아니라 농맹인의 삶 속에서 실제로 사용할 수 있는 단어가 무엇인지 수집하는 과정이 필요하다.
Abstract
[Purpose] The population’s status this research aimeds to improve the communication environment for the Korean deafblind population by developing haptic signals based on Korean culture. The research question“What haptic signals are to be developed for deafblind people in Korea?”[Method] An overall action research process was implemented three times based on Kemmis and McTaggart’s research model (2007) repeatings the spiral model (Plan → Act & Observe→ Reflect → Revised plan→ Act & Observe → Reflect). Qualitative analysis of the research was carried out utilizing Miles and Huberman’s (1994) three stages of qualitative analysis procedures (Data Reduction → Data Display → Conclusion drawings / Verification) to analyze the qualitative data including interviews, observations (videos, photos, and pictures), and field diaries. [Results] Three rounds of action research were conducted and 74 haptic signals were developed through the research. These include 20 for environmental situations, 16 for emotional expressions, 8 for colors, 6 for people, 8 for food, and 16 for others in detail. [Conclusion] First, the selection criteria for haptic signal words were determined. Second, the research verified the necessity of deafblind people’s participation in this research. Third, haptic signals should be developed simply and easily. Fourth, haptic signals suitable for the situation should be used. Fifth, training is needed for deafblind persons, sign language interpreters, their families, and activity supporters, and such training should be repeated, Sixth, the necessity of continuous development of haptic signals was confirmed.
