리듬악기합주 활동이 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 상동행동에 미치는 효과
The Effects of Activities with Rhythmic Ensemble Musical Instruments on Stereotyped Behaviors of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder

본 연구는 기악합주활동을 통한 리듬악기(큰북, 리듬 막대, 심벌즈)의 연주가 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생들의 상동행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고 악기의 연주활동이 상동행동의 대체행동으로서 얼마나 기능하는지를 알아보는 것이었다. 연구의 대상은 전문계 고등학교의 합주부 특별활동에 참여하는 학생들 중 DSM-5(American Psychiatric Association, 2013) 기준에 의해 자폐스펙트럼장애로 진단된 남학생 3명이다. 연구대상 학생들에게는 그들의 특성과 능력에 맞게 대상 A학생은 큰북을, 대상 B학생은 리듬 막대를, 대상 C학생은 심벌즈를 이용해서 합주활동을 하도록 제공했다. 연구결과들을 종합해 보면, 기악합주활동 속에서 리듬악기 연주가 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 상동행동 감소에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 감소의 정도는 학생의 학업수행능력 수준, 연주악기의 특성, 교사의 촉진 정도에 따라 차이가 나타났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rhythmic ensemble musical instrument performance on the stereotyped behaviors of students with autism spectrum disorder, and to investigate how musical instrument performances function as substitute behaviors of stereotyped behavior. Subjects of the study were three male students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder according to the DSM-5(American Psychiatric Association, 2013) criteria among the students participating in the special activities of the vocational high school. The students were asked to perform a ensemble activity using the bass drum for the student A, rhythm sticks for the student B, and the cymbals for the student C, according to their characteristics and abilities. According to the results of the study, rhythm instrument performance was found to be effective in reducing stereotyped behavior of students with autism spectrum disorder. Also, the degree of decrease was found to be dependent on the student’s academic performance ability, the characteristics of the musical instrument, and the degree of teacher’s prompt.
