부모의 양육행동과 유아의 내재화 문제행동의 관계에서 정서통제와 부정적 정서의 다중매개효과

초록

본 연구는 아버지와 어머니의 양육행동이 유아의 정서통제와 부정적 정서를 매개로 유아의 내재화 문제행동에 미치는 영향을 다중매개분석을 적용하여 검증하고 이러한 관계에서 유아의 성별에 따른 차이가 있는지를 탐색하였다. 이를 위하여 서울시 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 4세에서 6세 유아를 둔 부모 166명을 대상으로 부모양육행동, 유아의 정서조절, 내재화 문제행동 척도를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0과 Process Macro를 사용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 주요 연구결과를 요약하면, 첫째, 부모의 양육행동이 유아의 정서조절능력을 통해 내재화 문제행동에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 어머니의 온정․수용적인 양육행동은 유아의 정서통제와 긍정정서를 통해 내재화 문제를 낮추는 반면, 어머니의 허용․방임적인 양육행동은 유아의 정서통제와 부정정서를 통해 내재화 문제를 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 어머니와 아버지의 거부․제재적인 양육행동은 유아의 부정정서를 통해 내재화 문제를 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 매개모형을 유아의 성별에 따라 각각 분석한 결과, 남아의 경우 어머니의 거부․제재와 허용방임적 양육행동만이 정서조절능력을 통해 내재화 문제행동에 영향을 미친 반면, 여아의 경우 어머니의 온정․수용적 양육행동이 긍정정서를 통해 그리고 아버지와 어머니의 거부․제재적 양육행동이 부정정서를 통해 내재화 문제행동에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 유아의 내재화 문제행동을 개선하기 위해 아버지와 어머니의 양육행동에 대한 차별적 개입뿐 아니라 유아의 정서통제나 부정적 정서를 유아의 성별에 따라 통합적으로 고려하는 것이 중요하다는 점을 시사한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of preschoolers’ emotional control and positive emotions on the relationship between parental behaviors and preschoolers’ internalizing behavior problems by gender. Fathers and mothers of 166 preschoolers from 7 daycare centers in Seoul participated in this study. Participants completed parenting behaviors and only mothers completed preschoolers’ emotional regulation abilities and internalizing behaviors scale. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 and Process Macro. Results were as follows: First, preschoolers’ emotional control and positive/negative emotions mediated the relationship between mother’s warmth-acceptance/permissive-neglectful parenting and internalizing behaviors. Also, both mothers and fathers’ rejection-restriction parenting influenced preschoolers’ internalizing behaviors through negative emotions. Second, boys’ emotional control and negative emotions mediated the relationship between mothers’ rejection-restriction and permissive-neglectful parenting and internalizing behaviors. For girls, parents’ rejection-restriction parenting influenced girls’ internalizing behaviors through negative emotions, while mothers’ warmth-acceptance parenting affected girls’ internalizing behaviors through positive emotions. These results supported the importance of father and mother’s parenting and preschoolers’ emotional control and negative emotions to decrease internalizing behaviors, while taking the effects of preschoolers’ gender on these variables into account.
