Abstract
The changing age distribution of the population has been affecting social and economic phenomena. Especially, the demand for life insurance can be influenced by the aging population more than other industries. Therefore it is necessary for insurer to pay more attention on the aging baby boom generation. - 157 - There are a lot of previous research results on the demand for life insurance. With a single cross sectional data, however, one cannot figure out decisively the difference in behavior between age classes. This study analyses cohort, age and period effects on the demand for life insurance using a series of cross-sectional surveys conducted by Korea Insurance Research Institute. The result reveals that cohort(age class) significantly influences on the demand for life insurance and health insurance would continue its growth trends for the near future.
