Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop an young children temperament evaluation scale and verify its validity for caregivers with young children (preliminary study 400, this study 400) aged 3-6. It was developed for the purpose of understanding the temperament characteristics of children and helping them with appropriate parenting behavior through this. To this end, a survey was conducted using a preliminary questionnaire consisting of 111 questions for caregivers. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, 44 questions composed of five sub-factors of activity, regularity, emotionality, sensitivity, and sociality were derived. After that, confirmatory factor analysis, concurrent validity, and predictive validity were verified. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, the fit of the young children temperament scale model composed of the final 37 questions and 5 factors was relatively good, and the reliability was found to be appropriate as .86. The existing temperament scale (EAS) and concurrent validity were examined, and the validity was confirmed through predictive validity analysis through the correlation between the social ability scale. As a result, a stable correlation was shown, and through this, it was found that the young children temperament scale was a valid scale. Based on these research results, the significance and limitations of this study and suggestions for subsequent studies were discussed.
