멜란히톤에게서의 신앙교육과 인문교육

본 논문은 신앙 교육과 인문교육과의 상관관계를 종교개혁자인 멜란히톤을통해 고찰하려고 시도하였다. 이는 현재의 신앙 교육이 성경 지식에 비중을두어 전개됨으로 삶의 현장성을 잃어버리고 있다는 진단에서다. 그러나 과거의 종교개혁자들은 성경 지식을 바탕으로 ‘하나님 앞에서’(coram deo)와‘삶의 자리’(Sitz im Leben)에서 그리스도인으로서의 ‘나’에 대한 정체성과 비전을 고백하도록 교육하였다고 평가받는다. 이러한 점에서 특히나 멜란히톤은 신앙 교육과 인문 교육 양 부분에 걸쳐 탁월한 인물로 이해되며, 그는 신앙 교육과 인문교육을 서로 배타적이거나 대립적 관점에서 이해하지 않고, 상호 양립적이며, 나아가 신앙 교육에인문 교육의 필요성을 역설한 인물이다. 이러한 그의 관점을 구체적으로 살피기 위해, 먼저 그의 교육적 배경을 살펴보았다. 당대의 가장 탁월한 인문학적 소양을 지닌 멜란히톤은 종교개혁 진영에 합류하면서, 인문학이 신학적 성숙과 발달에 미치는 영향력을 강조하고, 나아가 인문학적 교육이 연약해지는 현실에서 인문학의 필요성을 힘주어 강조한다. 언어, 수사학, 역사 등의 인문학에 대한 강조는 그의 강의를 통해서 또는 학교 행정의 관여를 통해서도 드러나며, 나아가 멜란히톤은 정부의 종교 정책에 관해서도 인문학적 교육은 삶의 현장에 필수적이며, 또한 신앙 교육은 경건을 위해 필수적인것으로 강조한다. 인문학과 경건이 잘 균형 잡힌 교육이 삶과 유리되지 않는신앙인이 되게 하며, 동시에 사회의 구성원으로서의 신자로 서게 한다.
Abstract
This article attempts to explore the relationship between religious education and humanities education through Reformer Melanchthon. The diagnosis of current religious education reminds that it lost the reality of life, because it put the emphasis on Bible knowledge only. But reformers educated to confess the identity and vision of Christians as the ‘I’ which is based on both the knowledge of the Bible ‘before God’ (coram deo) and ‘place of life’ (Sitz im Leben). In this regard, Melanchthon is understood to be an excellent person in both sides of faith-education and humanities education. He did not understand the faith-education and humanities education in the exclusive or antagonistic terms with each other, and mutually incompatible enemy, but he emphasized even the necessity of humanities education on the faith-education. His views was first looked at his educational background. Melanchthon, with the most prominent contemporary humanistic knowledge, while joining the Reformation camp, interested in the influence of the humanities-education on the development and maturation of theologicaleducation. it is further emphasized firmly the necessity of the humanities today. The his emphasis on the humanities, such as languages, rhetoric, history, is revealed through the involvement of school administration or 멜란히톤에게서의 신앙교육과 인문교육｜175 through his lectures. And even Melanchthon argued that the humanistic education with regard to the religious policy of the government is essential in the field of life, and faith- education is essential to the piety. The well-balanced of humanities education and piety make life and faith to separate, and at the same time stand as a believer and a member of society.
