성도의 경건에 관한 연구는 그 자체도 중요하지만, 경건이라는 성도의 삶의 양식과 긴밀하게 연계된 다양한 측면들을 함께 고려해야 한다. 무엇보다 주 목해야 하는 것은 바울의 경건에의 부름은 예수 그리스도의 초림과 재림 사 이의 시간 틀 안에서 성도들에게 실천적으로 제시된 것이라는 것이다. “우리 (= 성도)는 어떻게 살아야 하는가?”(ethos)라는 질문은 “우리는 누구인 가?”(identity)라는 질문과 맞닿아 있다. 또한, 이 두 질문은 “지금은 어느 때 고 우리는 어디에 있는가?”(eschatology)라는 질문에 그 바탕을 둔다. 그러므 로 성도의 경건을 바르게 접근하기 위해서는 바울의 종말론적 시간 이해가 선행되어야 한다. 다시 말하면 바울의 종말론적 시간 이해는 성도의 경건에 의 부름에 당위를 제공할 것이다.
Abstract
A study on the piety of believers is significant in itself. However, it is clear that we researchers should take into consideration other issues interrelated with the ethos of believers, namely the piety of believers. It is of interest to note that Paul’s calling believers onto piety is situated within the purview of the time fame between the first advent of Jesus Christ and the second one. A question of “how we believers should live up to?”(ethos) goes hand in hand with a question of “who we are?”(identity) Besides, these two questions are based on a question of “in which time it is now and where we are?”(eschatology) Therefore, it is necessary that Paul’s eschatological understanding of time should have a primary priority in any attempt to approach the piety of believers. In other words, Paul’s eschatological understanding of time will lend credence to his calling believers onto piety.
