이 논문은 로마서 6-8장에 나타난 그리스도인의 윤리적 삶의 방법에 대해서고찰하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 그리스도인은 죄를 떠나서 거룩하고 의롭고 선한 삶을 살아야 한다(롬 6:1-23 등). 2. 그리스도인이 이렇게 살아야 하는 이유는 그가 예수를 믿음으로 예수와 연합되어 죄에 대해서 죽고, 의에 대해서 산 자가 되었기 때문이다(롬 6:1-11; 8:1-4 등). 그는 죄에서 해방되어 의의 종이 되었고(롬6:17-18 등), 타락한 본성인 육신에서 벗어나 성령 안에 있게 되었기때문이다(롬 8:1-9 등). 3. 로마서 7:14-25의 “나”는 원칙적으로 율법 아래 있는 인간(롬 6:14), 율법을 의지하면서도 율법을 행하지 못하는, 예수 믿기 전의 인간, 변화되지 않은 인간성 곧 육신 안에 있는 자를 말한다. 이는 로마서6-8장의 구조상으로 볼 때, 로마서 6장은 죄와의 관계에서 그리스도인의 삶을 말한다면, 로마서 7-8장은 율법과의 관계에서 그리스도인의 삶을 말한 것으로, 특히 로마서 7:7-25는 율법을 의지하는 자가 왜율법을 행하지 못하고 죄를 행할 수밖에 없는가를 말하기 때문이다. 바울은 여기서 율법을 의지하는 자는 율법을 알고 이를 행하고자 하지만, 그의 타락한 인간성 곧 육신(타락한 마음)이 변화되지 않아서, 곧 그 육신 안에 죄가 있어서 이 죄 때문에 그 율법을 행하지 못하고, 오히려 죄를 짓고, 죽게 된다는 것이다. 4. 그리스도인은 죄에서 벗어나 의의 종이 되었으며, 육신 안에 있지 않고, 성령 안에 있음에도 불구하고, 육신(타락한 마음)을 따라 행함으로 죄를 지어 죽게 되는 것은 그 안에 아직도 죄가 있어서 그 죄를이기지 못하기 때문이 아니라, 그가 이미 죄에서 벗어나 그 안에 죄가 없음에도 불구하고, 그가 죄의 유혹에 굴복하여 자신을 죄에게 드릴 때, 그의 마음이 죄의 마음 곧 육신이 되어 이 육신을 따름으로이루어지는 것이다(롬 6:16). 그리스도인도 인간의 연약함으로 인해죄의 유혹에 굴복할 때는 그도 육신에 속하여 육신적인 사람이 될 수있는 것이다(고전 3:1-4 등 참조). 그러므로 그리스도인은 항상 영으로써 몸의 행실을 죽이는 삶(8:13하), 곧 영적 싸움에 대비하여 항상깨어 기도하는 삶을 살아야 한다(엡 6:10-20 등 참조). 5. 인간의 연약함과 죄는 구별되어야 한다. 연약함은 죄의 가능성을 가지고 있으나, 그 자체가 죄는 아니다. 연약함은 강함과 양육을 위해돌봄과 도움을 받아야 하는 것이지, 하나님을 대적하는 것으로서의죄가 아니다. 그리스도인은 약하기 때문에 더욱 하나님을 믿고 의지해야 하는 것이다(고후 12:9-10 참조). 6. 그리스도인이 하나님의 뜻을 따라 거룩하고, 의롭고, 선한 삶을 사는방법은 항상 예수 그리스도를 믿고 의지함으로 성령 안에서 사는 것이다. 곧 성령의 인도하심을 따라 사는 것이다(롬 8:1-4,14 등). 이것은 그리스도인이 자신을 의의 병기로 하나님께 드리는 것이며(롬 6:12-23), 곧 하나님의 뜻을 분별하고, 그 뜻에 순종하는 것이다(롬 12:1-2).
Abstract
This thesis examines Christian ethical living as described in chapters 6-8 of Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. The results are as follows. 1. The Christian should live a holy, righteous, and good life (Rom. 6:1-23 etc.). 2. The reason why the Christian should live such a life is that he/she has died to sin and has become alive to righteousness by being united to Christ by faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 6:1-11; 8:1-4, etc.). Therefore He/she has been freed from sin and has become a slave of righteousness (Rom. 6:17-18 etc.), and as follows he/she has been released from the flesh, the corrupt nature and has come to be in the Holy Spirit instead (Rom. 8:1-9 etc.). 3. “I” as described in Rom. 7:14-25 is basically a person who is under the law (Rom. 6:14), one who relies on the law but ultimately fails to do the law, that is, the one who is still living under the corrupt nature of the flesh, the person who is not in Jesus Christ. The reason is thus: when seen from the structure of Romans 6-8, Rom. 6 talks about the Christian life in relation to sin, and Rom. 7-8 explains it in relation to the law and the flesh, and most especially Rom. 7:7-25 explains why the one who relies on the law fails to do the law. The Apostle Paul says here that the one who relies on the law knows the law and wants to do it, but he/she sins and dies because sin is in his/her flesh: the unchanged nature (the corrupt heart). 4. The reason why a Christian could walk according to the flesh (the corrupt heart) and die even though he/she has become a slave of righteousness, hence is freed from sin, and is in the Holy Spirit, not in the flesh, is this: not because he/she still has sin in him/her and so cannot overcome it, but because even though he/she has already become freed from sin and does not have sin, he/she volitionally surrenders to the temptations of sin and delivers himself/herself over to sin, and then his/her heart becomes the heart of sin, also known as the flesh, and he/she then follows the flesh, the corrupt heart (Rom. 6:16). When a Christian surrenders to the temptations of sin because of his/her human weaknesses, he/she then also becomes one with the flesh and becomes a fleshy person (1Corinthians 3:1-4 etc.). Therefore each Christian should always kill the practices of his/her body (Rom. 8:13), that is, he/she should always be alert and pray against spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:10-20 etc.). 5. Human weaknesses and sin must be distinguished. Human weaknesses can potentially lead to sins, but they are not inherently sinful. Therefore they should be helped and cared for, not punished as a sin which opposes God. Rather, because of our weaknesses we Christians should trust and rely on God more (2Corinthians 12:9-10). 6. The way in which a Christian should live a holy, righteous, and good life according to the will of God, is to always live in the Holy Spirit by faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:1-4, 14, etc.). A Christian should deliver himself/ herself to God as an instrument of righteousness (Rom. 6:12-23), and discern God’s will and obey it (Rom. 12;1-2).
