본고는 오늘날 마주한 기독교인의 음악 세상의 위기를 알리고, 기독교 신앙 인이 숙고해야 할 음악의 미학과 그 역할을 논한다. 논자는 인간의 음악적 감각과 창조적 능력의 기원을 추적하여 음악적 아름다움의 성경적 본질은 무엇인지 개혁주의 신앙관으로 연구함으로 음악과 신학의 필연적 관계를 드 러내고자 하였다. 그리하여 하나님과 그의 하신 일을 성도의 음악 세계에 적 용하고, 한국의 개혁주의 교회와 신학에, 그리고 성도의 신앙생활에, 음악이 도울 수 있는 역할들을 소개하고 그 정당성을 모색한다. 구체적으로 음악의 아름다움과 본질적 특성들은 성도의 연합과 말씀교육, 영성을 위한 개인 기 도생활과, 교회의 문화선교, 신학자들과 목회자들의 교리적 연구와 삶 속의 은혜를 체험하고 성화되어 가는 과정에 도구로 쓰임 받을 수 있음을 주장한 다. 이를위해본고의첫장에음악미학을기초할성경적프레임을제공하 여 보편적인 기독교 음악미학 원리를 정리하고, 다음 장에 기독교 안의 음악 의 여섯 가지 역할들을 “성도의 노래”로 비유하여 조명한다.
Abstract
This study warns the crisis of the music and its thoughts that Christians face today and discusses the aesthetics and the role of music which should be taken seriously. The writer of this article sought to reveal the inevitable relationship between music and theology by tracking the origins of human musical senses and creative abilities to study the biblical nature of musical beauty based on the Reformed theological perspectives. Hence, this study applies God and his work to the musical beauty and the thoughts of the believers toward music. It then presents the roles of music which can help the reformed church and theology in Korea as well as the religious life of the believers by establishing the authenticity of theological study of music. Specifically, this study argues that the beauty and essential qualities of music can be used as a tool that helps the unity of the believers, peda- gogical role with the biblical texts, the personal prayer life for spirituality, the cultural missionary work of the church, the doctrinal study of theolo- gians and pastors, and the process of experiencing and sanctifying grace in their life. For this, the first chapter of this study provides a biblical frame for the foundation of music aesthetics to summarize the principles of universal music aesthetics, and the following chapters illuminate the six roles of music in Christianity as the “songs of the believer.”
