교회음악의 교육적 기능과 찬송가교육의 필요성

초록

본 연구는 ‘오늘날 한국교회에서 교회음악이 과연 성도들의 신앙과 인격의성장과 성숙에 기여하고 있는가?’라는 문제의식에서 출발한다. 교회음악의궁극적인 목적은 물론 하나님께 영광을 돌려드리는 것이지만, 이웃 사랑의견지에서 교회음악은 성도들을 세워주는 역할도 감당해야 하는 것이다. 그러한 관점에서 우리는 교회음악의 교육적 기능에 특별한 관심을 가져야 한다. 기독교 교육과 밀접한 관계를 갖고 있는 교회음악은 본질적으로 기독교신앙을 전수하는 기능, 기독교인의 신앙과 인격의 성숙을 돕는 기능, 기독교적인 삶을 장려하는 기능 등의 교육적 기능을 수행한다. 따라서 교회음악 지도자는 그러한 교회음악의 교육적인 기능을 고려하여 모든 교회음악 활동을수행해야 한다. 그런데, 교육적인 관점에서 오늘날 교회 현장에서 특별히 강조되어야할 것은 찬송가 교육이다. 찬송가는 기독교 신앙 교육에 있어서 매우 높은가치를 지니고 있지만, 현실적으로 교회 현장에서 찬송가의 중요성에 대한인식은 점차 약화되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 찬송가 교육의 필요성은 더욱 강조될 수밖에 없는데, 이는 노래를 통한 교육은 하나님께서 명령하신 방법이고, 기독교 신앙 교육을 위해, 기독교적인 삶을 장려하기 위해, 그리고 문학적, 음악적 유익을 위해 찬송가 교육이 필요하기 때문이다. 그러므로 우리는 교회의 각급 교육부서와 찬양대에서, 그리고 그 외의 여러 기관에서 찬송가를 더욱 더 적극적으로 가르치고 활용할 필요가 있다. 이렇게 찬송가를 함께 부르는 가운데 우리는 교회음악이 주는 영적, 신앙적, 문학적, 음악적 유익을 더욱 많이 누리게 될 것이며, 주님 안에서 하나님의 교회는더욱 든든히 세워지게 될 것이다.

Abstract

This study starts with an awareness of the issue whether or not the church music in Korean churches contributes to the growth and the maturity of Christian people in their personality and Christian faith. Even though the ultimate goal of church music is to glorify God, it needs to also edify the people of God from the perspective of loving neighbors. Therefore, we should pay a special attention to educational functions of church music. Church music which is closely related to Christian education essentially performs such educational functions as handing over Christian faith to the next generation, helping people to get mature in their personality and Christian faith, and encouraging them to live the Christian life. Consequently, church music leaders should carry out their church music activities in consideration of the educational function of church music. Today, teaching hymns needs to be stressed in Korean churches from an educational perspective. Hymns are of great value in Christian education, but an awareness of their importance is getting weaker in Korean churches. In this situation, the necessity of teaching hymns should be emphasized since teaching with a song is a method that God commanded and teaching hymns is helpful for Christian education, the encouragement of living the Christian life, and the instruction of literary and musical things. Therefore, we need to teach people hymns in graded choirs, Sunday schools, and otherchurch organizations and to use them in various active ways. By singing hymns all together, we can get a lot of spiritual, religious, literary, and musical benefits and the church of God can be more strongly built in the Lord.
