초록

Plato’s philosophy has been a significant influence since its creation. The modern educator and philosopher, R. Steiner, was no exception. According to Plato, humans are fundamentally composed of two parts, body and soul, whereas Steiner asserted that there are three – body, soul, and spirit. Despite this difference, they share their interpretation of body and soul. This study further investigates their view of the body and soul, then deals with human will, emotion and thought and their relationships in physical education. Lastly, the study compares the‘ideal man’according to both Plato and Steiner, and the wholeness of being in physical education philosophy.

Abstract

Plato’s philosophy has been a significant influence since its creation. The modern educator and philosopher, R. Steiner, was no exception. According to Plato, humans are fundamentally composed of two parts, body and soul, whereas Steiner asserted that there are three – body, soul, and spirit. Despite this difference, they share their interpretation of body and soul. This study further investigates their view of the body and soul, then deals with human will, emotion and thought and their relationships in physical education. Lastly, the study compares the‘ideal man’according to both Plato and Steiner, and the wholeness of being in physical education philosophy.
