한국춤의 포스트모더니티 특성: 짐멜의 형식사회학적 접근

짐멜은 분화되고 단편화된 세계상과 생활형식의 일반적인 상대성과 일시성에서 불안정한 근대의 기호를 읽어냈다. 그는 근대의 수많은 단편 가운데 어느 하나를 정치적 혹은 도덕적으로 편애하기보다는 단편 자체의 본질과 특성을 이해하고자 하였으며 이를 통하여 새로운 이론적, 실천적 통일의 가능성을 탐색하였다. 이와 같은 짐멜의 형식사회학 관점에서 급변하는 후기현대 사회의 도래에 따른 한국창작춤의 포스트모더니티 특성은 다음과 같이 특징지울 수 있다. 첫째, 짐멜이 주창한 제3의 가능성(tertinm datur)이 뚜렷이 나타나고 있다. 둘째, 표면문화의 한 형태인 에세이 예술형식이 등장하였다. 셋째, 개성과 유행이라는 측면에서 개별화와 사회화 그리고 일상 미학적 형식의 양식화가 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 넷째, 인격적 정체성과 개성적 법칙의 딜레마에 빠져있다. 오늘날 한국 창작춤은 ‘개성’이라는 전형이 발전을 이루면서 ‘다원화된 다작(多作)’을 나타내고 있다. 그러나 위대한 예술작품은 ‘개성’만으로 만들어지는 것이 아니라 예술가의 ‘내적 일관성’과 ‘책임감’이라는 인격적 정체성을 통해 완성된다. 따라서 한국창작춤은 ‘내실화’와 ‘균형감’ 확립을 통해 자기자신만의 특유한 ‘개성적 법칙’을 일관성 있게 추구함으로서 질적 가치를 제고시켜야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Georg Simmel explores an unstable modern symbol in a differentiated and fragmented picture of the world, and in relativity and temporality of the mode of living. While he tries to understand the essence and nature itself of the works rather than being morally and politically partial to one amongst a large number of works, he seeks for the possibility of a theatrical and practical unity. Korean creative dance can be characterized in terms of Georg Simmel's formal sociology as follow: Firstly, Tertium datur (a third choice is possibile) which Georg Simmel advocates is distinctly appeared. Secondly, an art form essay which is a form of the expression cultures has emerged. Thirdly, it seems that the individualization, socialization and stylization of an usual aesthetic form are being accomplished. Lastly, an entity of Korean creative dance falls into a dilemma of a personal identity and an individual law. Today, while Korean creative dance is marked by its individuality, it represents pluralized and prolific works. However, a great art work is not created by only personality, but is completed by an artist’s internal consistency and through ‘a sense of responsibility’ regarded in the same light as a personal identity. Therefore, Korean creative dance should promote a wide range of environmental factors such as the increase of dancing organizations, the revitalization of planning system, internationalization and industrialization, and raise the qualitative value by consistently pursuing his and/or her own peculiar individual law through the establishment of a sense of substance and balance.
