Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the connection of athletes’ desire and prudence(promines) with unethical behavior shown in sport. The Greek term of akrasia means‘moral weakness’ or‘incontinence’. It is defined that promines which can judge good and bad behavior has unbalance with virtue. There is promines in sport such as the game rule and sprite of the game that players attending sport events have to follow them. And promines may implies that athletes are like virtuous sportsman. Nevertheless, why unethical behaviors appear in sport society? Because the desire toward winning disturbs player’s own will that leads them to winning by doing right. Also, the unethical behavior comes from not ignorance but knowledge about good attitude as a sportsman. If players, however, who cannot control the desire and have akrasia continually focus on winning, sport society will be criticized by such expression, winning at all costs. This research suggests the chance to consider sports society again which is covered with unethical issues through akrasia.
