스포츠 주체자가 지닌 영혼의 탁월성에 관한 아리스토텔레스주의적 접근

본 연구는 스포츠주체자가 지닌 영혼의 탁월성을 단지 추상적 개념이 아니라 실재 스포츠상황이 전제된 준거를 통해 정의하고, 스포츠맨십과 경기규칙과 관련하여 어떻게 적용되는지 구명하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 아리스토텔레스의 사상에 근거해 볼 때, 인간의 영혼활동은 크게 이론지(sophia)와 실천지(pronesis)로 구분되고 이들은 서로 다른 역할을 지닌다. 그렇다면, 이와 같은 영혼의 활동은 스포츠와 어떤 관련을 맺고 있는가? 이는 스포츠 경기규칙과 스포츠맨십으로 설명된다. 스포츠경기에 참가한 선수라면 누구나 다 경기규칙을 준수하고 여기에는 이론지가 작용한다. 한편, 스포츠현장에서 대표적인 실천지로는 스포츠맨십이 있다. 스포츠맨십은 곧 선수들의 도덕적 성품을 나타낸다. 아리스토텔레스의 관점에서 볼 때, 실천지에 따른 행동이 곧 덕에 따른 행동이며, 실천지를 지닌 자가 곧 덕을 지닌 자이다. 그리고 이러한 실천지와 이론지가 일치 될 때가 바로 영혼의 탁월성이 발휘되는 것이다. 스포츠와의 관계에서 볼 때, 경기규칙은 스포츠맨십을 이끄는 사실적 준거가 되어 이 양자가 서로 조화를 이룰 때, 스포츠선수가 지닌 영혼의 탁월성은 더욱 부각된다. 따라서 이 연구는 스포츠에서 나타나는 역동적 인간의 움직임이 단지 신체적 탁월성에만 관계하는 것이 아니라 영혼의 탁월성에까지도 영향을 미치는‘완전한 인간 움직임’이라는 사실에 당위성을 부여할 수 있는 이론적 근거가 될 것으로 생각된다.
Abstract
This research was to denote that excellence of soul sportsman has is not based on abstract concept but obvious criteria related to sportsmanship and pair play. According to Aristotle’s philosophy, Hylomorphism, all existence in the universe consists of form and matter means soul as form and body as matter. The excellence of the body and soul would be exposed in the teleological human nature which is required to athletes who want to seek own goals through competitive sport contest as well. Especially, regarding with the relationship of form, soul, Aristotle divides soul into Sophia and Pronesis and adopts the difference between them. Though he insists the superiority of Sophia, emphasizes the significance of Pronesis. Therefore, the excellence of soul appears when Sophia has complementary to Pronesis. The case of role of soul in sport is explained by them, sportsmanship and game rule. The obedience to the game rule is understood as the consequence of player’s matter, the more interesting fact in Aristotle’s thought, the fundamental resource to lead the action to respect the rule in each sport event is essentially because of form, soul. If so, we should focus on the relation with soul and game rule or sportsmanship. It is required the role of Sophia to set the game rule in sport events. In addition, we have to adopt the power of reason as we accept the variety and difference of games. Then again, sportsmanship as Pronesis is expressed athlete’s morality. The action, however, occurred by Pronesis, that is, arête and the sportsman who has it is virtuous human being. Accordingly, the concurrence of Sophia and Pronesis means the excellence of soul. In other word, the game rule in harmony with sportsmanship emphasizes the athlete’s excellence of soul.
