중국 태권도의 발전과 정체성 논의

Abstract

In this study, the introduction and development processes of Chinese Taekwondo have been described in detail. Also, its past and present have been compared, while discussions have been carried out in terms of its development and identity. Based on the systematic controlling system and the decisive support of the government, Chinese Taekwondo has been rapidly developed and grown through its short history of 15 years. However, by considering the critical concern that only female athletes have been biasedly nurtured while there has been a great focus on the aspect of competition, it is possible to know that Chinese Taekwondo has been only related with victories and results. The people involved in Chinese Taekwondo together with the athletes seem to be ignorant of the importance of the true intrinsic value of Taekwondo. It seems that they only pursue the extrinsic growth of the ‘victory-oriented idealism’. Only the mechanical ‘victory-oriented idealism’is overflowing based on the scientific process in regard to Taekwondo without any established moral standard. There seems to be lack of philosophical ideas. By considering such a state, it can be said that there would not be any athlete who could contribute to the establishment of a high status, even if there are many excellent athletes. In regard to the effort for the identity of Chinese Taekwondo, it would be necessary to try to expose an intrinsic value of sportsmanship based on the moral standard by strengthening such an identity further by considering that Chinese Taekwondo has been developed based on rapid mechanical development. By providing such effort, it would be possible to promote extrinsic and intrinsic development of Chinese Taekwondo with the establishment of its own characteristics.
