이 연구는 프랑스 철학자 미셀 푸코의 저서『감시와 처벌』을 통해 권력에 따른 규율사회와 현대 관리사회에서 스포츠의 의미와 역할을 알아보고 우리나라 운동선수들의 사회는 어떠한 구조적 특징을 가지는지를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 특히 우리나라 청소년 운동선수들의 사회는 과거 엄격한 규율사회의 권력 시스템을 통한 순종적인 신체의 삶을 살아왔다. 그러나 시대가 변화하고 사회의 주체가 변화하면서 현대사회는 적극적이고 유연한 신체로서 자신의 주체가 되어 살아가고 있다. 그러나 현실적으로 우리나라의 운동선수들은 자신이 주체인지, 객체인지에 대해 명확하게 판단내리지 못하고 있다. 이러한 판단의 혼란은 우리나라 운동선수들의 사회구조상 혼재되어있는 권력의 기재 때문이라고 볼 수 있으며, 이는 우리나라의 스포츠 정책과 이상이 부합되지 않는 이유에서 기인한다. 스포츠선진국들은 정책과 이상의 합일성과 더불어 권력과 규율에 의한 통제사회가 아닌 그들만의 유연한 관리사회의 스포츠구조가 실현되어 있다. 이러한 요구에 부합하기 위해 우리나라 역시 관리사회로 향하기 위한 스포츠 제도의 현실적 변화가 시급하다. 이와 더불어 자라나는 청소년 운동선수 역시 과거 권력에 의한 규율사회의 기계적인 신체에서 탈피하여 자신의 욕망을 통하여 자율적이고 주체적인 삶의 편향이 이루어져야 한다. 끝으로 이러한 관리사회를 목표로 두는 스포츠 메커니즘은 전문체육에서부터 변화의 촉발을 이루고 사회체육, 학교체육의 전 영역에서의 조화로운 구동체를 완성하여야 이상적인 선진사회의 스포츠문화를 가지게 될 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the meaning and the role of sport both in the disciplinary society and in modern society of management, and to examine structural characteristics of Korean society of athletes by means of "Surveillance and Punishment" written by Foucault, a French philosopher. The Korean society of athletes, specially for youth athlete, has lived a physical life obedient to the authoritative system of past rigid disciplinary society. However, as time has changed and the leading part of the society has transformed, modern society has become own subject to lead its life as an aggressive and flexible body. Actually athletes in Korea can hardly define clearly in judging whether they mainly control the situation. This confusion was caused by the power muddled up in the structure of athletes' society, which derived from the failure of the Korean sport policy to come up to the ideals. As for most advanced countries in sport area, along with the unity between the policy and the ideals, the constitution of the sport through the flexible management society was realized not through the disciplinary society. In order to comply with such a request, for Coaching of Youth Athlete and development in Korea's sport scheme will be indicated. Additionally, self-initiated and independent engagement via athletes' own desire should be realized by escaping from the passive body controlled by the authority. In conclusion, for development and growth of youth athlete, provided the harmony in overall areas of sport like the sports for all and school physical education besides in the professional circles is fulfilled, the sport culture of ideal advanced society will be possessed.
