이 연구는 스포츠인류학이 보다 성숙한 학문 분야로 발전하기 위해 해결해야 할 과제들을 검토하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 이 연구에서는 스포츠인류학이 하나의 학문 분야로서 갖추어야 할 전제 조건을 연구 대상과 연구 방법, 그리고 지식 체계를 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 따라서 이 연구는 스포츠인류학의 본질을 중심으로 학문적 조건을 고찰하고자 하였다. 학문적 조건으로서 스포츠인류학의 연구 대상은 다른 학문들과 마찬가지로 어미학문으로서의 일반 인류학 분야의 대상이라고 할 수 있으며, 스포츠와 인류학의 관계를 연구하며 진리를 구하고 끊임없이 진보, 향상하려는 인간의 정신적 활동 또는 그에 따른 정신적․물질적 성과로 정리할 수 있다. 또한 스포츠인류학의 연구 방법은 인류학의 연구 방법에서 크게 벗어나지 않는다고 할 수 있다. 일반적으로 어미학문(母學問)인 인류학 연구 방법을 활용하고 있기 때문에 매우 다양하다고 볼 수 있다. 스포츠인류학 지식 체계는 연구 대상을 인류학 분야의 다양한 여러 방법으로 탐구하여 밝혀낸 성과들의 축적이라고 할 수 있다. 지식체계와 관련해서는 우리 스포츠인류학 분야가 보다 성숙한 학문 분야가 되기 위해서는 합의된 정리가 요구되며, 같은 연구 대상과 연구 방법에 의한 지식 체계가 이론적인 부분뿐만 아니라 실천적인 부분에 있어서도 중요하다는 점을 인식하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to study tasks to be solved in order for sports anthropology to be developed into a mature academic field. For this purpose, I have concentrated on the object of study, method of study and knowledge system as a precondition for sports anthropology to be an academic field. As a result, I drew these conclusions. We can say that the object of study of sports anthropology as an academic condition is, like other studies, the object of general anthropology as a mother study. Sports anthropology studies the relation between sports and anthropology, seeks the truth, and shows human beings' mental activity to progress and improve endlessly or consequently mental and physical achievements. We can say that the method of study of sports anthropology does not stray much from the realm of the study of anthropology. We can also say that the method of study is very various because it utilizes the method of study of anthropology, a mother study. We can say that the knowledge system of sports anthropology is the accumulation of achievements in sports that have been found by various methods. I have recognized that sports anthropology related to knowledge systems needs settled adjustment to become a more mature field of study and knowledge system. By the same object and method of study, sports anthropology is important not only in theoretical part but in practical part.
