오늘날 유럽과 미국교회 그리고 한국교회는 교리 이해, 동성애 문제와 이슬람문제 등에 대처하는 심각한 자기 정체성 확인 상황에 직면하고 있다. 신앙고백서의 현재적 의의란 첫째, 교회 공동체의 신앙 정체성 보전이다. 이는 역사적 시대에 신자들의 신앙내용 고백과 바른 교리 형성과 이단으로부터 바른 신앙을 지키기 위하여 필요하다. 둘째, 역사적 시대의 문화와 정신의 방향 제시이다. 사도신경이나 325년의 니케아신경, 381년의 니케아-콘스탄티노블 신경, 451년의 칼케돈 신경, 500년 경의 아타나시우스 신경, 1934년 독일 고백교회의 바르멘 신학선언, 1940년의 장로교인 언약 등이 그 예다. 현재적 적용의 기준은 다음 세가지다. 1. 하나님 말씀인 성경은 타종교 이해와 상황윤리 비판에 보편적 규범을 제시한다. 2. 개혁교회는 오늘날의 상황에 성육신해야 한다. 근본주의적 자기 폐쇄, 자유주의적 종교혼합 영합주의는 비판되어야 한다. 3. 신앙적 삶의 규범이 제시되어야 한다. 이슬람의 도래 등 타종교, 동성애 및 성윤리에 대한 규범이 제시되고, 개인주의와 해체주의에 대한 공동체 성이 강화되고, 억압, 해방, 권리, 정의, 용납, 복음 등의 개념들이 성경의 가르침에 기반하여 바르게 정의되어야 한다. 그리고 신격화된 고도의 과학기술 시대 속에서 초월적 하나님에 대한 인격적 신앙고백이 강화되어야 한다.
Abstract
Today European and American churches have been facing the situation of seriously confirming the self-identification coping up with the doctrine, the homosexual, the Islam issues. The present significances of the faith confession are firstly to preserve the faith identification of the church community, and secondly, to guide the direction in the culture and spirit of the historical times. The Apostolic Creed, Nicea Creed of 325, Nicea-Constantinople Creed of 381, Calcedon Creed of 451, Athanasius Creed of 500, Barmen Theological Declaration of 1934 and Presbyterians Covenant of 1940 are the examples. The criteria of the present appication are three as follows: 1. the Bible as the Word of God provides the universal norms for the other religions and for the situation ethics. 2. Reformed church criticizes the fundamentalist self-closure as well as liberal religious syncretism. 3. The norms of the fideistic life should be suggested. The norms for the other religions like Islam, homosexual and sexual ethics should be provided. The communality opposed to individualism and deconstructivism should be strengthened, the concepts like the suppression, liberation, right, justice, acceptance and Gospel should be correctly defined according to the Biblical teaching. The personal faith confession for the transcendent God in the advanced technological era should be strengthended.
