우리는 어디서 왔는가?(D'où venons-nous?) 우리는 누구인가?(Qui sommes nous?) 우리는 어디로 가는가?(Où allons-nous?). 이런 질문은 이 땅의 유한한 인생을 살고 있는 우리 인간들로 하여금 궁극적으로 본질이란 무엇인가를 생각하게 하며, 가치중립적인 과학을 넘어서 인간으로 하여금 이생에서 내세 즉, 종교적 세계에 대해서 근본적인 의문을 가지도록 유도한다. 이상의 질문에 대한 답을 우선 우리의 이성에서 찾지 않고, 먼저 하나님의 계시에서 찾는 것이 신학이라 할 수 있겠다. 그러나 신학의 분야인 창조와 자연이라는 주제는 신학뿐만 아니라 자연과학을 비롯하여 많은 학문적 연대를 요구하고 있다. 신학을 연구함에 있어서 신학자들이 신앙과 특별계시인 성경을 가지고 있다고 하더라도, 다른 학문은 필요가 없다고 주장할 수는 없다. 우리에게 특별계시인 성경이 있기 때문에, 우리는 더욱 일반계시의 영역인 자연과 일반 학문을 연구하고 고찰해야 할 것이다. 그러나 편협한 신학은 일반계시를 인정하지 못하고 특별계시인 성경만 인정한다. 성경만 가르치는 것이 진정으로 성경적인가? 우리가 특별계시인 성경만 인정하고 일반계시를 부정할 때 아이러니(irony, die Ironie)하게도 우리는 성경도 부정하게 되는 모순을 가지게 된다. 사람들이 일반계시의 필요성을 인정하던지, 아니면 부정하던지 간에, 우리는 일반 학문들의 제반 영역들, 예를 들면, 언어, 수학, 과학, 법학 그리고 의학 등을 배워야 한다. 그러므로, 우리가 신학을 전공한다고 해서 일반학문을 멸시하거나 무시할 수 있는 권한이 없는 것이다. 이제 신학은 일반계시의 영역인 자연과학을 비롯하여 일반 학문과의 학제간 연구를 적극 수용하고 인정해야 한다. 왜냐하면 자연과 일반학문도 하나님이 우리에게 주신 일반적인 계시이기 때문이다. 그러기에 필자는 신학과 일반학문의 다리를 놓음으로써 「학제간 통찰의 신학」을 제시한다.
Abstract
Who are We? Where do We come from? Where are We going? This question always makes us think about something essential ultimately in this earthly finite human life, leading just beyond the value-neutral science to the fundamental curiosity of the afterlife in this life as a human, which is, the world of religions. We can call it theology that above all we must look at God’s revelation, without finding out the solution to the above questions from our first reason. The field of creation and the nature as the subject of theology, however, requires a lot of academic solidarity, including the natural sciences as well as theology. Even though theologians have both faith and the Bible as special revelation in their studying work, they cannot deny the necessity of the other studies. We should even much more study and review the nature as the area of the general revelation and the other sciences, because we have the Bible as the special revelation. Narrow-minded theology, however, does not recognize the general revelation, only acknowledging special revelation. Is it really biblical for us to teach only the Bible? When we deny the general revelation and recognize only the special revelation, which is, the Bible, we ironically come to face the contradiction that we deny the Bible. We have to learn about the various areas of these general studies, for example, the language, mathematics, science, law and medicine, and so forth, whether people admit the necessity of the general revelation or not. There is no right to despise or ignore the general discipline to study, even if we study theology. Now theology must recognize and embrace the interdisciplinary study of natural sciences and general studies, which belong to the area of general revelation, because God has already given us nature and all the other sciences as the general revelation. It is why the writer proposes an interdisciplinary theological insight by making bridge between theology and science.
