한스 큉의 은사 이해에 대한 비판적 고찰: 그의 『교회』를 중심으로

본 논문은 로마 가톨릭 신학자 한스 큉의 은사 이해를 그의 대표작 가운데 하나인 『교회』를 중심으로 파악하려는 목적을 지니는데 이를 위해서 다음의 세 가지 주제를 설정해서 고찰했다. 첫째, 그의 신학 가운데 기독론과 성령론에서 출발하여 은사론의 신학적 위치를 설정하고자 했다. 먼저 모든 은사는 그리스도가 제공자이시므로 은사는 그리스도와 교회를 연결하는 다리와 같은 역할을 담당한다. 또한 교회의 질서는 성령이 제공하시는 자유안에서의 질서로 규정되는데 여기에서 은사는 그 구성원들을 내적으로 결합시키는 기능을 수행하여 교회의 통일성을 보장한다. 둘째, 그의 은사적 교회론을 교회질서와 봉사의 구조라는 두 가지 관점에서 살펴보았다. 먼저 교회질서는 은사와 봉사가 아우러져서 서로 일치될 때 올바르게 형성된다는 사실이 강조된다. 이런 이유에서 교회는 은사 공동체일 뿐 아니라 봉사 공동체로 간주되는데 양자는 동일한 실재를 지칭한다. 셋째, 교회의 속성에 대한 고찰에서 큉은 통일성과 보편성을 은사의 관점에서 이해하는 견해를 드러내지만, 거룩성과 사도성에 대해서는 은사와 관련하는 고찰을 제공한다. 거룩성의 경우 윤리적 성화를 인간이 아닌 하나님의 사역으로 이해하는 큉의 독특한 관점 때문에 은사와 이 속성의 관련성이 논의되지 않았다는 문제가 지적될 수 있을 것이다. 또한 사도성을 모든 속성의 근원으로 이해하는 그의 견해가 이 속성을 은사의 관점에서 고찰하지 않는 것은 그의 은사 이해에 있어서 단점으로 지적될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This article is an attempt to understand a well-known Roman Catholic theologian Hans Küng’s concept of charisma with reference to his Church. In order to achieve this purpose this article is developed around following three themes. First, Christology and pneumatology are two starting points in our attempt to find a theological position of charisma within his theology. All charismata are connecting bridges between Christ, their provider, and church. Church order is defined by order provided in the realm of the Holy Spirit. Here the function of charisma is to unite members of church together and by doing so the unity of church is guaranteed. Second, Küng’s charismatic ecclesiology has been analyzed from the viewpoint of church order and the structure of diakonia. Church order can be rightly formed when charisma and diakonia are woven together into unity. From this perspective, church is not only charismatic community but also diakonic community. Third, regarding the attributes of church, Küng speaks of unity and universality in terms of charismata. However, he is not interested in presenting holiness and apostolicity in charismatic terms. In case of holiness, Küng peculiarly understands ethical sanctification not as human work but as divine work. For this reason, his understanding of holiness cannot be related to charisma. Although apostolicity is considered the fountain of three other attributes, Küng unfortunately fails to understand it in terms of charisma. This would be evaluated as one of the flaws in his understanding of charisma,
