The purpose of this study is to find the improvement ways of TMSCs(Town Management Social Cooperatives) as a residential association to maintain and develop the effects of urban regeneration projects. Three steps are carried out to achieve this research purpose. First, the concepts, related policies, and establishment status of the town management cooperatives are investigated. Second, research items are driven to understand the management status of the town management cooperatives by reviewing documents related to the establishment and operation of the town management cooperatives and the results of previous studies. Third, the improvement plan of the town management cooperatives is presented by investigating and analyzing the size and type of members, the composition of the operating organization, business areas, and management performance of the town management cooperatives currently in operation. The results of this study are as follows. First, the checklists to survey the management status of the town management cooperatives are driven. Second, the tasks for improvement are presented through investigation on management status of the town management cooperatives in Gangneung-si. Third, a improvement plans for the town management cooperatives are driven.
