The purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of residential satisfaction among single-person households living in public rental housing by dividing them into three age groups—youth, middle-aged, and elderly—and to compare the differences in these determinants across groups. Using data from the 2023 Housing Survey, multiple regression analysis was conducted as the main analysis method. As a result of the analysis, the composition and relative importance of the factors influencing housing satisfaction and residential environment satisfaction were different for each age group. For housing satisfaction, housing security condition and noise condition were significant factors for the youth, while heating and insulation, ventilation were emphasized by the middle-aged. In the elderly, housing structure, heating and insulation were identified as key determinants. For residential environment satisfaction, accessibility to commercial and medical facilities, educational environment were important for the youth. The middle-aged emphasized accessibility to commercial and medical facilities, crime safety condition. In the elderly, cleanliness and accessibility to cultural facilities were significant factors. This study contributes to the academic understanding of residential satisfaction in public rental housing and provides age-specific policy implications for improving residential satisfaction among single-person households in public rental housing.
