본 연구는 국내 에너지․기후변화 교육의 실천적 효과를 알아보고, 이를 통해 교육적 성과를 평가할 수 있는 방안을 제시하며, 에너지․기후변화 교육을 위한 정책을 제안하고자 한다. 이에 에너지 절감량을 구체적으로 제시하고 있는 에너지수호천사단, 환경동아리 활동, 학급에너지지킴이, 환경일기장, 에너지절약 정책연구학교와 같은 사례들을 중심으로 분석하였다. 에너지수호천사단을 포함한 여러 활동들은 전력 사용량의 절감을 보여주고 있으나, 계절적 요인과 사회적 요인 등이 포함된 결과로 인과 관계를 보여주는 데 한계가 있다. 또한 표본 숫자의 한계로 인해 결과를 일반화하기에 어려움이 있으며, 자기보고식 평가로 인해 결과를 신뢰하기 어려움이 있다. 나아가 단순한 에너지 절감보다는 효율적이고 합리적인 에너지 사용과 판단을 촉진해야 한다. 이에 따라 연구 결과를 토대로 효과적인 에너지․기후변화 교육 방안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the progression of students’ practice in energy and climate change education, to discuss the way to evaluate its pedagogical effects, and to suggest the policies for the education. Thus, the researchers analyzed main programs related to energy and climate change education as following: guardian angels for energy, environmental club activities, classroom energy keepers, environment journal and research school for energy saving. The result shows that all programs were effective for students to do actions for energy saving with the meaningful decrease in electricity charge. However, the decrease cannot be explained only by the programs because they did not take into account the meteorological effects such as temperature, sunshine, and rainfall. There is a limitation to generalize the data due to the small number of samples and the results may be subjective because the analysis relied upon the self-reflection of students. Furthermore, students should be able to make informed decision on energy consumption beyond the blind thrift of energy. Thus, this study will give some implications for the better practice in regard to energy and climate change education.
