연평도 포격전 전투사례를 통한 전장리더십에 관한 연구

전장리더십은 지휘관(자)가 전장의 각종 제한사항을 극복하고 승리를 달성하기 위해 발휘하는 리더십을 의미하며, 리더십의 궁극적인 목적은 전장리더십을 함양하여 전투에서 승리하기 위함이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 이번 연구의 목적은 가장 최근의 전투사례인 연평도 포격전의 전장리더십을 참전자들의 증언과 수기 분석을 중심으로 전장리더십 핵심요소에 근거하여 분석 및 평가하고, 평시에 전장리더십을 함양하기 위한 야전부대 및 학교기관에서의 적용할 훈련방법을 제시하는데 있다. 연구결과로 전장리더십 핵심요소는 관련이론 분석과 선행연구 결과를 분석하여 실전적 교육훈련, 전투의지 고양 및 부대단결, 진두지휘 및 솔선수범, 전장공포 관리 및 기강확립의 4개 요소로 도출하였다. 다음으로 도출된 핵심요소에 기초하여 연평도 포격전을 참전자들의 증언과 수기를 중심으로 전장상황 하에서 지휘관(자)의 전장리더십 발휘 여부와 부대원의 전투행동을 분석한 결과 각각의 전장리더십 핵심요소가 포격전 상황 하에서 긍정적으로 발현되어 승리할 수 있었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 끝으로 전장리더십 핵심요소(4개)를 함양하기 위한 야전부대와 학교기관에서의 전장리더십 훈련 방법을 소부대 전장리더십 훈련, 간부들을 대상으로 하는 상황조치게임 간 전장리더십 훈련, 전 부대가 야지에서 종합적으로 실시하는 전술종합훈련 간 전장리더십 훈련으로 구분하여 훈련과제 및 훈련내용(안)과 훈련방법 및 진행절차를 제시하였다. 향후 전장리더십에 대한 지속적인 연구를 통해 핵심요소 도출, 계량화를 통한 평가척도 개발, 실전적․실질적인 훈련방법 등을 더욱 발전시켜 전장리더십 함양을 통해 전승의 요체인 무형전투력이 더욱 극대화되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
Battlefield leadership means the leadership exercised by a leader to overcome various battlefield limitations and achieve victory. The ultimate purpose of leadership is to nurture battlefield leadership in achieving victory in battle. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to provide training methods to apply at field units and educational institutions based on the key elements of battlefield leadership. These elements are inferred from the most recent battle following the shelling at Yeonpyeong-do that soldiers can feel convincingly empathy, collected through participants and memoir analysis. The research analyzed relevant theories and preceding research to identify four key factors of battlefield leadership: practical training and education, nurturing of a will to fight and unit cohesion, leadership by example, and management of battlefield fears. The whereabouts of battlefield leadership in military leaders at the shelling at Yeonpyeong-do, and the conduct of unit members collected from veteran testimonies and memoir analysis were analyzed based on the identified elements. As a result of the analysis, it found that victory was achieved through the positive manifestation of each battlefield leadership key element under the conditions of the shelling. In conclusion, The battlefield leadership training method in field units and school institutions was divided into battlefield leadership training that small units, executives, and all units will master to cultivate key elements of battlefield leadership(4). Each battlefield leadership training included training tasks and training contents (drafts), training methods, and progress procedures. It is expected that intangible combat power, which is the key element of transmission, will be further maximized by further developing practical alternatives to battlefield leadership, such as developing evaluation scales through core elements, quantification, and practical training methods through continuous theoretical discussions on battlefield leadership.
