대학 신입생의 영작문에서 나타난 오류 분석 연구 ‘언어 간 전이’와 ‘언어 내 전이’에 의한 오류를 중심으로

초록

본고의 목적은 대학생들이 작성한 영작문을 대상으로 오류 분석을 하여 오류의 원인과 내용을 언어학적으로 분석하고, 더욱 효과적인 영어 지도 방법을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 사범대 신입생들이 본 연구에 참여하였고 이들의 영작문에서 나타나는 오류 유형은 모국어와 목표 언어의 차이에 의해 발생하는 언어 간 오류(interlingual errors)와 목표어 내의 언어 요소 간 간섭으로 나타나는 언어 내 오류(intralingual errors)로 분류하여살펴보았다. 표집된 오류들을 분석한 결과에 의하면 언어 간 전이에 의한오류에서는 관사와 관련된 오류가 가장 빈번하게 발생하였으며, 언어 내전이에 의한 오류로는 수량 형용사와 관련된 오류가 가장 많이 발생하였다. 특히 대부분의 학생이 관사 사용과 관련하여 불필요한 첨가, 대치, 생략과 같은 오류를 범하여 각별한 주의가 요구된다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로효과적인 영작문 지도를 위한 제언을 하였다.

Abstract

This study aims at providing a comprehensive account of the sources and causes of errors in Korean freshman students written work to draw pedagogical implications for language teachers. Data were collected from written samples of first-year students in a teacher education program and the language errors, committed by the research participants, were classified into two major categories : intralingual and interlingual errors. The research findings indicated that errors in using quantifiers were found to constitute the majority of intralingual errors. In terms of interlingual ones, errors involving articles (omission, addition, and substitution) were the most frequent error sources, highlighting the need to take pedagogical precautions. Given that learner errors can lend valuable insights into how the target language is learned and internalized, pedagogical suggestions are put forward based on the study results.
