본 연구의 목표는 광고영어 클러스터의 통사적 특성을 밝히는 것이다. 이 목표를 달성하기 위해 본 연구는 전문 학술지 논문 코퍼스, 박사학위논문 코퍼스, 전문 교재 코퍼스, 광고영어 코퍼스 그리고 BNC Baby를기반으로 각각 클러스터를 추출하였다. 그리고 네 개의 목표 코퍼스와하나의 참조 코퍼스에서 추출한 각 클러스터 사이의 공통점과 차이점을조사하였다. 그 분석 결과를 살펴보면 첫째로 TC와 BNC Baby의 클러스터 목록 사이에 다소의 공통점이 발견되었고, 둘째로 AEC와 BNCBaby의 클러스터 목록 간에 많은 공통점이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째로동사구 범주 중에서 ‘수동동사 + 전치사구’ 유형에서 AC와 DC의 TTR이 다른 코퍼스들보다 현저히 높게 나타난 것은 전문 학술 분야 코퍼스의 두드러진 구조적 특징임을 밝혔다. 끝으로 본 연구의 결과는 앞으로광고 분야의 영어를 전공하는 학습자들에게 실질적인 학습 자료를 제공하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate syntactic properties of clusters in Advertising EnglishCorpus(AEC). To achieve this goal, this study extracts clusters from Article Corpus(AC),Dissertation Corpus(DC), Textbook Corpus(TC) and AEC as a target corpus and BNC Babyas a reference corpus. This study explores the similarities and differences between clusters offour target corpora and those of a reference corpus. And it also analyzes the structural featuresof 4-word clusters divided into NP-based, PP-based and VP-based category. The findingsshow that 1) there are some similarities between clusters of TC and those of BNC Baby; 2)there are a lot of similarities between clusters of AEC and those of BNC Baby; 3) AC and DCin passive verb + PP fragment of VP-based category have remarkably higher TTR than othercorpora, showing genre-specific features. Therefore, this study contributes to giving authenticeducation materials for learners majoring in advertising English.
