개혁기 중국의 민족주의는‘중화민족론’또는‘중화사상’에 대한 강조와 자극을 통해 민족적 응집력의 결집을 도모하고 있으며 이는‘중화민족주의 (中華民族主義)’의 부상으로 규정할 수 있다. 오늘날 중국에서 나타나는 중 화민족주의는 방어적(defensive) 성격과 공세적(offensive) 성격의 양면 성을 모두 지니고 있으며 궁극적으로는 중국정부의 관리결과에 따라 그 성 격과 방향성이 결정될 것으로 보인다. 한편 중국의 민족주의가 과거 중화제 국의 영광을 재현하는‘팽창적 민족주의’의 방향으로 흘러간다면 한국으로 서는 경계심을 가지고 적절한 대응책을 모색하지 않으면 안 될 것이다. 이 글은 미래지향적 관점에서 동북아 민족갈등을 해소하고 아우르기 위해 첫 째, 중·장기적 차원의‘동아시아 공동체’형성 추진 둘째, 가칭‘동북아시 아 방송국’설립 셋째, 청소년교류를 포함한 민간교류 촉진 등을 제시한다.
Abstract
This paper aims to analyse the characteristics, background, and practice of Chinese nationalism in the reform era. Chinese nationalism is one of the strongest powers in domestic politics and foreign policy in China. Chinese nationalism driven by China’s traditional Sino-centrism and contemporary aspirations for great-power status during the reform era. Chinese nationalism contains defensive characteristics and offensive characteristics of both aspect. Therefore, China’s leaders cautious to prevent the Chinese people’s nationalist sentiment from turning into a criticism of the government’s policy. China's leaders have maintained their authoritarian power and prevented nationalism from getting out of hand thus far, but it remains to be seen how long their absolute control can last. Now, China wants to be a leading country in the world however with a narrow form of self-centered nationalism, China cannot fulfill the goal in the future.
