Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the factors to have an effect on the quality of life of deaf people with cochlear implants. There were 163 deaf people who had gotten surgery for cochlear implants for this study. The independent variable is a duration of cochlear implant use, the period of speech therapy and auditory training, communication strategies, parent support and hearing people' support. The dependent variable is the quality of life of deaf people with cochlear implants. To examine the important factors to have an effect on quality of life was estimated by hierarchical regression analyses The result shows that parent support and hearing people's support have the positive influence on the quality of life. That is to say, the higher parent support and hearing people's support are, the higher the quality of deaf people with cochlear implant is. It suggests several implications on the result.
