지체장애 부모를 가진 비장애 자녀의 경험에 대한 연구 - 청년기 자녀를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 지체장애 부모에게서 자란 비장애 자녀의 경험을 이해하고자 시행되었다. 그들이 자라면서 어떤 환경 속에서, 어떤 경험을 하고, 또한 그러한 현실을 어떻게 극복해 나갈 수 있었는지에 대해 관심을 가졌다. 이를 위해 지체장애 부모에게서 자란 18세 이상의 비장애 자녀 8명에 대해 인터뷰를 실시하였고, 인터뷰한 내용을 전사하여 현상학 방법으로 분석을 시도 하였다. 그 결과 비장애 자녀들도 장애인만큼이나 여러 편견들 속에서 다름의 고통을 겪고 있는 것이 확인되었다. 그러나 삶의 다른 기준을 확인하고, 부모와 주변의 지지가 있을 때, 그리고 그들이 자신의 상황에 개방적일 때, 이러한 고통은 극복될 수 있었다. 다만, 지속되는 장애부모에 대한 부양과 사회적 편견은 여전히 그들로 하여금 사회적 장애를 경험하게 만드는 요소였다.

Abstract

This study is to explore the life experience of non-disabled children raised by Parents with Physical disability. For this purpose, we have an interview with adult children with physical disabled parents. The analytic results of interview data show that non-disabled children suffers form social prejudice on disability as disabled people does. However, they were able to overcome their painful situation by finding the different life criteria, getting the support of their parents and other people around, and opening up their situation. But, the continued caregiving burden and social prejudice are the elements to make them uncomfortable.
