프랑스 거주 한국인 청소년의 사회심리공간 형성과 정체성 적응 및 학업 적응에 관한 질적 연구

본 연구는 프랑스에 거주하는 한국인 청소년들이 이민국에서 어떻게 적응하는지 살펴보고, 이들의 정체성 적응과 학업 적응 과정에 대해서 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 프랑스의 파리시와 파리 근교 지방에 살고 있는 한국인 청소년 22명을 대상으로 하여 심층면담을 하였으며 주제분석과 담화분석을 통한 질적 연구 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과로 사회심리공간형성, 정체성 적응과정, 학업적응과정의 세가지 범주가 도출되었다. 사회심리공간형성은 한국적 공간, 프랑스적 공간, 한국-프랑스적 공간 형성으로 구분되며, 이러한 사회심리적 공간형성은 정체성 적응과 밀접한 관계를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 한국-프랑스적 매개공간 형성은 이민국에서의 적응과정에 주요한 요소가 되며, 효율적인 정체성 적응과정의 주요 요소가 되는 것으로 나타났다. 정체성 유형으로 확신된 혹은 재확신된 정체성과 확신되지 않은 정체성 유형이 하위범주로 구분되었으며 특히 확신된 정체성의 하나인 이중문화정체성은 적응과정의 주요 요소로 밝혀졌다. 정체성 형성은 학업 적응과도 관련이 있으며, 직접적인 학업향상에 대한 기여가 아니라 문화적 균형과 정서적 안정을 통하여 기여하고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 프랑스에 거주하는 한국인 청소년들에게 한국인 공동체 기관에 참여하는 것은 문화적 균형과 정서적 안정을 통한 이중문화정체성을 형성하게 함으로써 학업향상에 기여하고 있음이 밝혀졌다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine how the Korean immigrant adolescents, who dwell in France, adjust to the immigrant country, and to clarify about the process of these adolescents' identity adaptation and school adaptation. For this, the in-depth interview was conducted targeting 22 Korean adolescents who reside in a Paris city and the suburban districts in France. The analysis was made by applying a qualitative research method through the topic analysis and discourse analysis. As a result of research, three categories were elicited such as the social & psychological spatial formation, identify-adaptation process, school-adaptation process. The social & psychological spatial formation is divided into Korean-styled space, French-styled space, and Korean-French styled space formation. This social & psychological spatial formation was indicated to have close relationship with the identity adaptation. Especially, the Korean-French styled medium-space formation was indicated to become an important element in the process of adaptation in the immigrant country, and to become an important element in the efficient identity-adaptation process. Types in the identity, which was convinced or re-convinced to be identity type, and in the identity, which was not convinced, were divided into sub-category. In particular, the dual cultural identity, which is one of the convinced identity, was clarified to be the important element in the process of adaptation. As the formation of identity has relationship even with school adaptation, it was clarified to be contributing through cultural balance and emotional stability, not the contribution to direct academic enhancement. As for Korean immigrant adolescents, the participation in the Korean community institution allows them to form the dual cultural identity through cultural balance and emotional stability, thereby having been clarified to be conducive to academic enhancement.
