남성 성역할 갈등과 우울의 관계에 대한 기본 욕구 충족의 매개효과 검증: 대학생을 대상으로

본 연구는 성역할 갈등 이론(O'Neil, 2008)과 자기 결정성 이론(Ryan & Deci, 2000)에 기초하여 성역할 갈등, 기본 욕구의 충족과 우울에 대한 구조관계를 수립하고 기본 욕구의 충족이 성역할 갈등과 우울의 관계를 매개하는지를 탐색하였다. 변인들 간의 구조적 관계를 분석하기 위하여 남자 대학생 324명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 구조방정식 모형 분석 결과, 성역할 갈등이 심할수록 기본 욕구의 충족이 어려워 우울이 심한 것으로 나타났고, 기본 욕구의 충족은 성역할과 우울 사이의 관계를 완전 매개하였다. 본 연구의 결과들은 성역할 갈등 이론과 자기결정성 이론의 가정을 지지하는 것이다. 이 연구의 결과들이 남성을 대상으로 하는 상담 실제에 가지는 함의, 이 연구의 제한점, 추후 연구에 대한 제언이 논의되었다
Abstract
This study examined the effect of psychological basic need as a mediator in the relationship between male gender role conflict and depression in 324 Korean college-aged men with SEM. This study compared two models reflecting full mediation or partial mediation effects of psychological basic need on the relationship between gender role conflict and depression. A chi-square difference test comparing the models showed a statistically nonsignificant difference between the partially and fully mediated models. The mediation effect of psychological basic need on the relationship between gender role conflict and depression was significant when the bootstrap method was applied. Suggestions for future research, the limitations of this study, and the implications for counselors were also discussed.
