진로의사결정 상황에 따른 타협과정의 차이

타협이론이 처음 제기된 이후, 타협과정에 관한 다양한 경험적 연구들이 시도되었으나 연구결과들의 일관성이 결여되고 상호 갈등하는 결과들이 발생하였다. 이 같은 결과는 타협에 관한 선행연구들에서 진로의사결정 상황에 대한 세심한 고려가 부족하였던 점에서 일정 부분 그 원인을 찾을 수 있다. 이에 따라, 본 연구에서는 진로의사결정이 이루어지는 상황을 선행 타협연구에서 사용하였던 직업분류 기준인 ‘수용 가능성’ 대신, ‘원하는 정도’를 사용한 직업선택지로 구체화하였으며 기존의 세 가지 상황에서 확대된 네 가지 상황으로 확대 설정하였다. 즉, 원하는 정도가 서로 다른 직업들 중에서 선택하는 상황은 진로의사결정 상황 1로, 매우 원하는 직업들 중에서 선택하는 상황은 진로의사결정 상황 2로, 보통 정도로 원하는 직업들 중에서 선택하는 상황은 진로의사결정 상황 3으로, 원하지 않는 직업들 중에서 선택하는 상황은 진로의사결정 상황 4로 설정하고, 각 상황에서 이루어지는 타협과정을 확인하고자 하였다. 연구대상으로 고등학교 2학년 66명, 대학생 91명을 편의표집하였으며 조사를 통해 확보된 자료는 포기된 직업과 선택된 직업의 타협요인 간 점수 차이를 계산하여 요인 간 평균의 차이를 비교하는 방식으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 원하는 정도를 기준으로 설정한 진로의사결정의 네 가지 상황은 수정 타협이론의 가정대로 타협의 정도에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 상황 1에서는 상황 2, 3, 4에 비해 흥미와 지위에 대한 고려 수준이 높게 나타났고, 상황 2에 비해 상황 4에서는 성 유형과 지위 요인이 중요하게 고려되어 개별 타협요인에 대한 고려 수준의 상황 간 차이가 확인되었다. 본 연구는 진로상담 장면에서 개인이 직면하고 있는 진로의사결정 상황을 구성하는 직업선택지들의 특징을 확인하는 방식으로 의사결정 과정에 적절한 조력을 제공할 수 있음을 시사하는 동시에 진로의사결정 상황을 가정한 수정 타협이론의 결과 예상을 우리나라 학생들을 대상으로 확인하였다는 점에 의의가 있다.
Abstract
he compromise theory defined in Gottfredson is that the career decision in different situations has three degrees of compromise, such as minor, moderate, and major compromise situation. The theory asserted the sex-type is the most difficult variable to compromise in the major compromise situation, and a variable that is ignored first in the minor compromise situation. The investigative research was conducted on the previous compromise studies to prove the results was right. However, it did not agree with each degree and it's theory also, the career compromise studies which tested directly to the modified compromise theory were little in number. The result leaded to special survey format called narrowing career multiple choice, which embodied the various situation decision making for career. This study, therefore, intended to identify whether the result of compromise study comes out consistently in case of narrowing multiple choice for decision in its survey into the situation variables. This study conducted on 66 high school students and 91 undergraduates for two weeks. The data analyzed by MANOVA, ANOVA, post hoc comparisons, and paired samples t-tests. At the analysis, significant difference was observed in compromise process according to career decision making situations. The interest variable was identified as the most difficult variable to be compromised and the sex type variable was the most easily abandoned variable in the situation 1. Therefore, the situation 1 was regarded as the lowest degree of career compromise situation. The situation 2, 3, and 4 were considered as comparatively high degree of career compromise situation based on it's low level of concern on the interest variables. But the situation 4 viewed as more high degree of compromise situation than the situation 2 in it's significantly high level of concern on sex-type. These results showed the importance of interest variable in career decision making situations. At the same time, those imply the sex type variable cannot take a key role in career choice situation anymore. These results also imply that changes are happening in sex type-based vocational perspective. Replication study can be conducted to confirm these findings. However, much attentions should be paid on generalization of the results in this study. Especially, the efforts to develop unique compromise model which can effectively reflect Korean decision making process in their career should be initiated.
