Abstract
This study examined the differences of counseling relationship according to client and counselor attachment style matching. 75 counselors and 146 clients participated in this research. Collected data were investigated by correlation analysis, two-step cluster analysis attachment of clients and counselors. The client and counselor styles were categorized into 9 groups, and the differences among the groups were examined. This study revealed the following results. First, the counselor's anxiety attachment factors were found to have negative correlations with working alliance, the positive countertransference behavior was perception difference between counselors and clients. Second, it was confirmed that the dimensions of the working alliance were perceived more highly when the anxiety style clients were combined with the avoidant style counselors. and the secure style counselors perceived that they formed lower working alliance when they were combined with anxiety style clients than when they were combined with the avoidant style clients and secure style clients. this study was considered that this approach took a step forward to explaining the counseling relations from the existing approaches of explaining with only client attachment style or only counselor attachment style. this study suggested that counselors carefully consider that aspect when client and counselor attachment style matching.
