Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the validity of the Korean version of the Work-Family Enrichment Scale (K-WFE) for a Korean married working mother sample. Work-family enrichment is defined as the extent to which experiences in one role improve the quality of life, namely performance or affect, in the other role. A total of 305 Korean married working mothers with at least one child under the age of 16(n=305) participated in this study. We evaluated the 6-factor model using confirmatory factor analysis, and results revealed that the 6-factor structure was consistent with the prior research, confirming the multiple dimensions within each direction (work to family and family to work). Specifically, the measure consists of three dimensions from the work to family direction (development, affect, and capital) and three dimensions from the family to work direction (development, affect, and efficiency). The internal consistency coefficients for the six dimensions were high. Further, correlations with other criterion variables provided support for discriminant, and predictive validity estimates of the K-WFE. Finally, the implications and limitations of the present study and suggestions for the future research were discussed.
