성별에 따른 외상관련 정서가 PTSD에 미치는 영향: 대학생을 중심으로

본 연구는 남녀 대학생의 외상관련 정서와 외상후 스트레스 증상간의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생 324명(남 140명, 여 184명)을 대상으로 외상 사건 체크리스트, 외상후 스트레스 증상 척도, 외상정서평가 척도, 정서조절곤란 척도를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석은 성별에 따라 외상관련 정서, 정서조절곤란과 PTSD 증상의 차이를 분석하였고, 정서조절곤란을 통제 변인으로 설정한 후 성별에 따라 PTSD 증상을 예측하는 외상관련 정서 반응의 유형이 다른지 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 여학생은 남학생보다 배신감, 공포, 정서조절곤란을 더 높게 지각하는 것으로 나타났지만, PTSD 증상은 여학생과 남학생간에 의미 있는 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 외상관련 정서, 정서조절곤란과 PTSD 증상은 유의한 상관을 나타냈다. 남녀 대학생이 외상관련 정서를 높게 지각하고 정서조절의 어려움을 경험할수록 PTSD 증상이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 남녀 대학생의 외상관련 정서와 정서조절곤란에 따른 PTSD의 설명력은 다르게 나타났다. 남학생의 경우 소외감이 PTSD 증상을 예측하는데 더 큰 비중을 차지하는데 여학생의 경우는 정서조절곤란이 PTSD 증상을 예측하는 데 더 큰 비중을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구가 지니는 의의와 상담에서의 함의 및 제한점을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between trauma-related emotions and PTSD by gender comparison among university students. There were 140 male and 184 female undergraduate students who completed ‘Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale’, ‘Trauma Appraisal Questionnaire’, ‘Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale’. The data was analyzed by t-test and regression. The results of this study were as follows. First, female’s betrayal, fear and difficulties in emotion regulation was more higher than males’ but there was no gender difference in PTSD. Second, the more undergraduate students perceived their trauma-related emotions, difficulties in emotion regulation, the more positive students’ PTSD. Third, the regression analysis showed that alienation was stronger predictor of males’ PTSD, however, difficulties in emotion regulation was stronger predictor of females’ PTSD. Finally, the limitations of research and the suggestions for future researches were discussed.
