본 연구는 Porfeli, Lee, Vondracek, Weigold(2011)에 의해서 개발된 진로정체감 지위 측정도구(Vocational Identity Status Assessment;VISA)를 한국어로 번역하고 한국어판 VISA-K를 타당화하는 데 있다. 현대산업사회에 사는 개인들은 충분한 탐색과정을 거쳐 하나의 진로를 선택한 후에도 주어진 환경의 변화에 따라 지속적으로 자신의 정체감에 대한 고민을 하게 된다(Vondracek, Lerner, & Schulenberg, 1986). 최근 몇몇 학자들이 이러한 특성을 반영하기 위해 기존의 진로정체감 모델에서 탐색과 몰입의 두 차원으로 설명하던 것에 재고라는 차원을 더함으로써 설명할 수 있다고 주장했고, Porfeli와 동료들(2011)은 이러한 요구를 반영하여 진로정체감 지위를 측정하는 도구를 새롭게 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 한국의 진로상담 장면에서 유용할 것으로 판단하여 본 도구를 한국어로 타당화하는 작업에 중점을 두었다. 한국인 572명을 대상으로 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 원 도구의 6-요인구조가 한국인 집단에도 적합하였다. 또한, 확인적 군집분석 결과, 미국인 집단에서 나타난 진로정체감 발달지위가 한국인 집단에서도 유사하게 나타나 이론적으로나 실증적으로 재고차원의 추가가 의미있음을 발견하였다. 향후 VISA-K 도구의 사용방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to validate a Korean version of the Vocational Identity Status Assessment(VISA-K). The world of work in modern industrialized societies change dynamically, and because individuals continuously interact with their living contexts(Vondracek, Lerner, & Schulenberg, 1986), people are likely to reconsider their vocational identity even after landing on a career after good amount of exploration. Recently, a few scholars have argued that the previous two-dimensional identity status model needs to be revised to include an additional dimension named reconsideration and Porfeli and his colleagues (2011) developed a measure that assesses vocational identity statuses that reflect this additional dimension. The primary aim, therefore, of our study was to validate the measure in Korean to ensure that the measure could also be used with the Korean population. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with a sample of 572 Koreans and results revealed that a 6-factor structure after removal of three items from the original measure would be appropriate. Moreover, a cluster analysis yielded that the additional identity status found in the U.S. sample was similarly found in the Korean sample confirming that adding a reconsideration dimension to the identity status model is meaningful both theoretically and empirically. Future directions regarding the use of VISA-K are discussed.
