본 연구는 가족의 사별을 경험한 대학생들의 애도과정과 이 과정에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색하고 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 가족 사별을 경험한 대학생 12명을 대상으로 개별 면담을 실시하고 근거이론 접근방법의 주요 절차를 활용하여 결과를 분석하였다. 근거자료를 분석한 결과 145개의 개념, 68개의 하위범주, 그리고 35개의 범주가 나타났으며 이를 기초로 가족 사별을 경험한 대학생의 애도과정에 대한 패러다임 모형이 도출되었다. 가족을 사별한 대학생이 경험하는 ‘현상’은 혼란(Chaos)이었으며 이와 같은 혼란은 인지, 정서, 행동의 각 영역에서의 어려움과 영역 사이의 불일치로 나타났다. 이와 같은 현상의 발생과 다루어가는 과정에 영향을 미치는 다양한 조건들을 인과적 조건, 맥락, 중재적 조건 등으로 정리하였다. 본 연구결과는 가족 사별을 경험한 대학생의 애도 과정을 이해하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다는 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
The purposes of this study were to explore the experiences of bereaved university students and understand the affective factors of the bereavement process. For this purpose, we interviewed 12 university students who had experienced the grief with bereaved families, and the interviewed data were analyzed by grounded theory method. As the results of the data analysis, 145 concepts, 68 subcategories and 35 categories were found, and a paradigm was extracted. Main phenomenon of participants’ experiences was ‘Chaos: the discrepancy and confusion of cognition, emotion and behavior’. In addition, the various conditions that affect the process of dealing with this phenomenon were categorized such as causal conditions, contextual conditions and interventional conditions. The results of this study provide a baseline data for understanding the bereavement process of university students.
