방어적 자기애와 공허감의 관계: 자기노출 방식으로 조절된 자기위로능력의 매개효과

Abstract

This study examined whether self-soothing ability mediates in the relationship between defensive narcissism and emptiness and verified the moderated mediating model to figure out if the mediating effect is moderated by self-disclosure method. A total of 300 adults aged 20 to 35 participated in the study, and Defensive Narcissism, Self-Soothing Ability, Emptiness, Conspicuous Self-disclosure, Self-pursuing Self-disclosure were measured. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro. The results were as follows. First, defensive narcissism significantly predicted emptiness through low self-soothing ability, supporting the partial mediating effect of self-soothing ability. Second, both conspicuous self-disclosure and self-pursuing self-disclosure were found to moderate the relationship between defensive narcissism and self-soothing ability. Specifically, the moderating effect was significant in that the negative link between defensive narcissism and self-soothing ability was attenuated as the level of self-disclosure increased in both forms of self-disclosure. Third, in the path from defensive narcissism to emptiness through self-soothing ability, only the moderated mediating effect of conspicuous self-disclosure was significant. As the level of conspicuous self-disclosure increased, the mediating pathway from defensive narcissism to feelings of emptiness through reduced self-soothing ability was weakened. Based on these results, implications for counseling and suggestions for future research were discussed.
