Abstract
This study aimed to translate and validate the Korean version of the Career Inaction Scale (CARINAS), which measures career inaction—defined as a state where individuals desire change but fail to act. The original scale was translated and administered to 446 Korean employees. Exploratory factor analysis supported a single-factor structure, which was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis in a separate sample. In particular, in the confirmatory factor analysis, the modified 1 model, which allowed some covariance between items, was finally selected by referring to the modified index to improve the model fit. Convergent and discriminant validity were verified through relationships with burnout, work engagement, job demands, job autonomy, and career adaptability. Criterion validity was supported by associations with job satisfaction and general health. The Korean CARINAS offers a reliable tool for assessing career inaction in Korean employees, with potential applications in career counseling and organizational interventions.
