보편 담론의 의사소통 가능성 - 기정진과 최한기를 중심으로

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to trace the "ground of sharing" that was experientially stable between Gi Jung Jin and Choi Han Ki by comparing and analyzing their "universal" discourses. In the 19th century when Joseon suffered the eastern penetration of western powers, Gi and Choi coexisted in the same space and developed opposite "universal" discourses about the physical pressure of foreign power on Joseon and its shaking values. While Gi tried a "top-down approach" from Li of transcendence to the real issues faced by Joseon, Choi was different from him by trying a "bottom-up approach" to estimate from a physical dimension to Woon-hwa-gi. This difference derives from Gi's theory assuming a diagram of "existence of transcendence" dependent on "ideas" and Choi's theory assuming a diagram of "changing world" dependent on "experiences." The present study is an attempt to show what the "ground of sharing" should be secured from to respect diversity between different subjects and civilizations by demonstrating differences between a universal discourse starting from transcendent experiences and another starting from physical experiences.
