Political and Personal Loss in Arabic Literature: The Relationship between the Loss of Nation and the Loss of Parents

Abstract
전쟁과 식민지화, 그리고 그에 따른 국외로의 망명과 같은 아랍인들의 역사적인 경험들은 그들의 심리적, 정신적 상실감을 수반했으며, 이는 아랍문학 작품에 다양한 방식으로 투영되어 왔다. 이러한 외상적 경험에 의한 개인적, 정치적 상실감을 다룬 문학작품을 ‘외상문학’ 혹은 ‘트라우마 문학’이라 칭하며, 이러한 문학 장르는 아랍인들이 실제로 겪은 암울한 현실과 외상적 경험들을 허구화함으로써 그들이 겪고 있는 패배감과 상실감, 무능함을 치료하는 치료제로서의 역할을 해 왔다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 아랍인들의 정치적, 개인적 상실감들이 어떠한 방식으로 문학작품들과 대중매체에 투영되어 왔는지 분석될 것이며, 이러한 종류의 트라우마 문학이 어떠한 과정을 통해 현실을 허구화(fictionalization)하고 각색(dramatization)해 왔는지도 검토될 것이다. 더 나아가 이러한 현실의 허구화가 개인 혹은 집단의 의식에 어떻게 영향을 끼쳐왔고, 혹은 그들의 의식을 어떠한 방식으로 재구성해 왔는지도 논의될 것이다. 이 논의를 위해 본 논문에서는 시, 소설, 연설문, 대중매체 등 다양한 자료가 인용될 것이며, 특히 아랍문학에서 드러나는 정치적, 개인적인 상실을 국가와 부모의 상실과 결부시킴으로써 문학이 외상적 경험을 공유하고 있는 아랍인들과 아랍사회에 어떠한 역할을 해 왔는지 모색해 보고자 한다.
