푸코적 칸트주의의 궤적: 비판적 존재론의 전화(轉化)

초록

푸코는 자신이 칸트주의의 전통에 속한다고 말한다. 그러나 푸코의 칸트 해석에서 10년이 넘는 공백을 사이에 두고 나타나는 고고학 시기의 비판과 윤리학 시기의 상찬 간의 거리는 푸코적 의미의 칸트주의란 무엇인가라는 물음을 필연적인 것으로 만든다. 이에 본고는 푸코의 칸트 독해의 핵심인 ‘비판’과 ‘주체’라는 두 개념의 재규정과 결합에 의해 정립되는 ‘비판적 존재론’의 전화라는 관점에서 푸코적 칸트주의의 궤적을 규명하려 한다. 푸코는 칸트의 비판을 역사화하며 그렇게 도출된 역사-비판적 방법론으로 칸트 비판철학의 기저에 놓여있는 초월적 주체를 비판한다. 그리고 이러한 초월적 주체에 대한 역사적 비판을 통해 정립되는 현재의 우리 자신에 대한 비판적 존재론으로서의 계몽의 문제계를 다시 칸트와 연결한다. 요컨대 푸코는 칸트에서 출발하여 칸트를 비판한 후 다시 칸트로 돌아가는 해석 운동 속에서 초월적 주체의 비판적 존재론에서 우리 자신의 비판적 존재론으로의 전화를 도모한다.

Abstract

Foucault describes himself as belonging to the tradition of Kantianism. However, the distance between the criticism of the archaeological period and the admiration of the ethics period in Foucault's interpretation of Kant makes the question of what Kantianism is in the Foucauldian sense inevitable. This paper seeks to clarify the trajectory of Foucaudian Kantianism from the perspective of the transformation of “critical ontology” that is established by redefining and combining the two concepts of critique and subject, which are the core of Foucault's reading of Kant. Foucault historicizes Kant's critique and, with the historico-critical methodology thus derived, criticizes the transcendental subject underlying Kant's critical philosophy. However, with the problematic of enlightenment as a critical ontology of ourselves, which is established through his historical critique of the transcendental subject, he reverts to Kant. In short, Foucault seeks a shift from the critical ontology of the transcendental subject to that of “ourselves” in the interpretative movement that starts with Kant, criticizes Kant, and then returns to Kant.
