존재론적 해석학과 비판적 합리주의의 비교연구(2): 존재관을 중심으로

하이데거와 가다머의 존재론적 해석학은 현존재의 삶과 서양철학의 역사 그리고 예술작품과 정신과학에서 일어나는 존재 이해의 사건을 분석하는 방식으로 인간과 세계 그리고 양자를 포괄하는 존재를 드러내려고 한다. 이에 반해 포퍼와 한스 알베르트의 비판적 합리주의는 과학의 탐구방식과 과학의 발전이 어떤 식으로 일어나는지를 고찰하는 방식으로 인간과 세계를 탐구한다. 비판적 합리주의는 자신의 철학적 과제를 과학적 주장의 본질을 파악함으로써 사이비 과학을 척결하고 참된 과학의 발전을 도모하는 것에서 찾는다. 따라서 비판적 합리주의에서는 인간과 세계에 대한 파악과 양자를 포괄하는 존재에 대한 파악도 결국은 과학이 발견해 낸 사실들에 입각해야 한다고 본다. 비판적 합리주의와 달리 존재론적 해석학은 자신의 철학적 과제를 니힐리즘의 극복에서 찾는다. 존재론적 해석학에서는 전통 종교들의 붕괴 이후에 사람들이 처한 니힐리즘의 상황에서 삶의 새로운 의미와 방향을 어디서 구할 것인가가 문제가 되는 것이다. 존재론적 해석학은 과학은 인간의 삶에 의미와 방향을 제시할 수 없다고 볼 뿐 아니라, 과학만이 인간이 의지할 수 있는 진리를 제공한다고 보는 과학주의야말로 현대를 규정하는 의미 상실의 근본 원인이라고 본다. 따라서 존재론적 해석학은 예술작품이나 고전적 전승과의 대화를 통해서 일어나는 존재의 개시를 통해서만 우리 인간의 존재도 충만한 것이 될 수 있다고 본다. 그런데 존재란 무엇인가라는 문제는 진리란 무엇이냐는 문제와 불가분의 관계에 있다. 이는 존재라고 하더라도 어디까지나 인간에게 이해된 존재이며 인간에게 진리로서 나타나는 것이기 때문이다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 먼저 존재론적 해석학과 비판적 합리주의의 진리관을 살펴본 후, 이러한 고찰에 입각하여 양자의 존재관을 살펴보았다.
Abstract
The ontological hermeneutics of Heidegger and Gadamer attempts to establish a better understanding of human beings and the world and the Being that encompasses both by analyzing the life of human beings, the history of Western philosophy, and the events of understanding the Being in works of art and human sciences. On the contrary, the critical rationalism of Popper and Hans Albert explores human beings and the world by examining the scientific method of inquiry and how science develops. Critical rationalism finds its philosophical task in identifying the nature of scientific claims to eradicate pseudoscience and promote the development of true science. Therefore, critical rationalism holds that our understanding of human beings and the world, as well as our understanding of the Being, which encompasses both, must ultimately be based on the facts discovered by science. Unlike critical rationalism, ontological hermeneutics finds its philosophical task in overcoming nihilism. The problem for ontological hermeneutics is where to find new meaning and direction for life in the nihilistic situations that people face after the collapse of traditional religions. Not only does ontological hermeneutics believe that science cannot provide meaning and direction to human life, but also that scientism, which believes that only science can provide the truth that humans can rely on, is the fundamental cause of the loss of meaning that defines modernity. Therefore, ontological hermeneutics sees that the life of humans can become full only through the disclosure of the Being that occurs through dialogue with works of art or classical traditions. However, the question “What is the Being?” is inextricably linked to the question “What is the truth?” because the Being is always the Being understood by humans and appears as truth to humans. Therefore, this paper first examines the views on the truth that ontological hermeneutics and critical rationalism hold and then delve into the views of both domains about the Being.
