Abstract
This paper defines humans not as individuals or entities but as extendibility, aiming to view this as an ontic capability beyond human capabilities. In this way, it seeks to argue that being, or existence, is not specific entity or object but rather an associating and connecting force, or “extendibility.” The fact that being persists through its extendibility via the union of various heterogeneous beings allows us to recognize that at the core of the symbiosis between human and nonhuman beings, between organisms and inorganics, and between biological and nonbiological systems, being is always in a state of flow or movement. This acknowledges that through extendibility, diverse phenomena of existence are generated. This extendibility is currently manifested as a form of cyborg capability at the level of “being human” through the symbiotic extendibility of human–machine interactions. However, this cyborg-like capacity of humans is not merely a uniquely human capability but rather a general capability of existence itself. The network capabilities of fungal mycelium exemplify this.
